Just want to share my MSFS Quest 2 settings that have been giving me amazing, smooth performance with SU10. This allows me to run on high/ultra settings with no stutters even while flying on VATSIM (and with StreamLabs sucking up resources!)
I know there are a bunch of ‘Best Settings’ videos out there, but I have been getting such great performance out of my system with crystal-clear clarity (no blurry instruments) I wanted to share -

Thank you. will try them.
I will try as well.
Your name is now on the line Deelee. lol

Thank you
It works a bit better, but I suffer following issue in VR
Every 30 seconds or so my CPU goes from like 50% to 100% spike for a second and then stutters and Audio also.
I get other wise like 30 fps.
Medium settings.
Quest 2
Intel I7 7700k
GTX 1080ti
32GB DDR4 RAM
NVME Drive
Any Idea what could be the reason?
Greetings Nils
@Deelee6800, I am in process of trying all of your settings since I have the same hardware (almost 9700K@4.8Ghz with a RTX3080ti and Quest2). One setting that has to do with Link and Airlink is the bitrate. I see that you are using 500Mbps in the Oculus Debug Tool but I’m not sure if that is the same setting that we set when we shut down (disable) Link or Airlink (BTW, which one do you use mostly?). I have Airlink at only 150Mbps
If you are willing to take a slightly lower FOV (I think its barely noticeable) you will also get a much higher FPS with smoother frames. GPU has to produce less of the enviroment.
Oculus Debug tool → FOV Tangent Multiplier → 0.8;0.8 (80% of original FOV)
You’ll have to reset this setting to default after use
Hi and sorry for the late reply!!
I am using the Link Cable, thus the 500Mbps setting. Yes, I think for AirLink, this has to be set lower.
How is your performance? Have you tried any settings that gave you a boost in smoothness or FPS? I’m always looking for ways to tweak my system for the best VR experience.
Cheers!
Hi,
CTD when I hit CTRL+TAB.
Cannot use VR with my quest 2 anymore with SU10 Beta.

Couple of things - If you are using OpenXR Toolkit, you need the latest version if you are using DX12… previous version would CTD with DX12.
If that’s not it, try removing stuff from community folder. Lower settings all the way as a test (take screenshots so you can put them back).
I would start there. Hit me up if that doesn’t work.
I use Openxr tool kit and dx12.
I will update Openxr and try again.
Thanks !
Yep! That’s the issue. SU10/DX12 + old version of OXRT = instant CTD

I did update Open XR Tool Kit and it works better than before !
Beautiful.

My Quest2 settings for great clarity and ASW half rate (72/36Hz) - need a RTX3080ti and 5Gz CPU:
Oculus App: 72Hz - 5408x2736 (my version = 44.0.0.169.455)
ODT PD=1.6, FOV=0.75, ASW=45fps,Encode Res WIdth=3648,Airlink bitrate=200,Link Sharpening T
OXRTK 80%FSR or so, FFR=whatever ==> MSFS Render SCale = 100, reports res as 2598x2624
Set VR Sharpen=1 in UserCfg.opt
MSFS2020: DLSS=Quality, AMD Sharpening=200 (Great clarity, reduces OXRTK appGPU significantly) - allows for complex clouds at high/ultra - currently I use DX11
Make sure you restart Oculus PC app and run ODT to set it up. Confirm with Oculus HUD printouts

Nice!! Thanks for sharing!
How do you find DLSS? Screens and instruments clear?
@Deelee6800 ,
I don’t imagine that the DLSS-Quality settings is as good as TAA especially for cockpit instruments unless you are trying to get an almost “overclear” resolution to begin with. I had been satisfied with a 1900x1900 type of resolution with TAA in that I could read the COM frequencies at the top of a GARMIN PFD. But once I had a 3080ti, I wanted to see what I could increase in resolution without getting “laggy” performance, so I ended up with max Oculus app resolution, and only 200mbps (250 was sluggish) but a Pixel Density override of 1.6 on the PC side of things with a 2500x2500 level image in MSFS. Anyway, with that level of clarity and TAA - but still occasionally missing 36Hz being steady depending on aircraft motion or scenery/aircraft complexity, I tried DLSS-Quality with AMD Sharpening at 200. I’m sure that it is not quite as clear as TAA but very usable. The frame time reduction though permitted a much steadier 36 FPS (half-rate) ASW
This is amazing! I was getting such blurry performance and this made it fabulous!! Appreciate the time and effort to help the community!

Can we get tl;dw screenshots of your various settings? I loathe having to reference settings in a YT video when configuring things.
Also, what are the main settings that drive cockpit clarity out of all of this? Super sampling? I can only run that at around 1.3 normally with lots of high/ultra stuff and TAA. With DLSS Quality I was at 1.6 with other settings the same, but clarity just wasn’t there.
Does increasing OpenXR Toolkit rendering past 100 help?
Hello everyone,
something confuses me a lot since i didn’t tweak VR for a while. Some of you seem to use openXR but my understanding (from along time!) was that openxr is only used for WMR heasets.
Currently I launch fs2020 windows store version using the airlink occulu app (no tweak like odt), and I wonder if you advise me to install openXR (it is now ocmpatible with occulus right?).
Sorry to ask this newby question to you all experts, but i hope a missed something really cool.
Interesting… I may give DLSS another go with pixel density turned up a bit. For me, it was a bit too fuzzy to read text on the screens in the Airbus or 737… Arrow steam gauges seemd ok, but the PMS-50 750 was hard to read with DLSS… probably end up trading some performance back because of the pixel density increase, but I’ll give it a go.
Honestly, I’m pretty happy with my setup as it sits. I, like you, am getting 36 FPS which is half the refresh rate with very clear visuals. Sort of the goldilocks zone.
OpenXR toolkit isn’t just for WMR headsets. It works great with my Quest 2. Note - I am not using SteamVR - just the oculus app… having said that, I wouldn’t recommend launching msfs from the oculus desktop. I would launch it in pancake/2D mode, then go into VR and ctrl-tab in to VR mode. For me, this works better and gives better smoothness for some reason.
I would absolutely recommend you looking into OpenXR Toolkit. There are a lot of good tutorials on how to get it, set it up, tweak it… Once you download it, you can reference that video I posted up there to give you a baseline for settings. Then tweak from there.
Cheers!
