Radeon 6900XT Driver Timeout

I have a brand new build with (for now) a Ryzen 3800X and Radeon 6900XT with 21.2.1 drivers.

Only in MSFS I’m getting occasional “driver timeout” crashes of the game.

Nothing is overclocked, no rage mode etc. All stock.

Anybody in a similar boat, and managed to fix it?

It’s normal, AMD driver is Russian roulette.
You must roll back to an older release.

I also have the exact same problem , I actually under volt my GPU and upped the Power Draw plus increased the Fan Curve … Touch wood all is well today …

But have to say the AMD driver is buggy as hell …
I can post a pic if you want of my settings

same thing occasionaly with my 3900XT and X5700XT, found that the november WHQL Driver 20.11.2 works best for me.

The new 21.2.2 driver for my rt5700xt - still got a ctd after an hour, back to November’s again.

Does anyone know if the 20.12.1 WHQL drivers are better, since they were relesed specifically for the 6900XT?

So same thing…

I had this issue yesterday. Did anyone find a solution to this ?
I sent a bug report to AMD.

So far after a 7 1/2 hour flight last night I’ve been able to use the new 21.1.3 driver that was released yesterday. I’ve had to use the Oct 2020 driver up to now. Will continue to test over the weekend.

Here’s a post I initiated after my installation of the new 31.1.3 driver:

That’s good news! I ended up rolling back to the Windows Update AMD driver as I got fed up with the crashing with my 6800XT.

Had to fall back to 20.11.11 after 21.3.1 had 2 ctd’s yesterday in 3 hours.

I disabled Game mode in Windows 10 Pro and wth 21.3.1 drivers no problem but sometimes I think servers cant feed enough data, happened in London where it was hitting 160Mb/s transfer and a sudden stop of data froze my Daher930 in the Sim…BUT…it did not CTD, it was like the biggest stutter EVER,then went to 5-6 fps and then suddenly…all normal @ 1440p around 60fps yes with my 6800XT. So AMD drivers are unstable yes perhaps, but I haven’t had one crash. Z390 Gigabyte Aorus motherboard, i7 9700KF @ 4.9Ghz all 8 cores and 2x16Gb DDR4 3600 C16 Crucial Ballistic, 1 TB M2 SSD… Very stable system for sure, going to put it to some heavy testing now. A Corsair 650W Gold rated PSU is keeping things stable, the 6800XT seems to draw up to 300W on its own. So don’t forget to have at least a 650W Gold rated PSU.

CTD on ‘ready to fly’ every. Single. Time.

Removed all drivers, installed back to 20.11.2 - same thing.

I’m starting to lose my mind on this one.

That sounds more like a mod issue. Have you tried renaming your community folder to see if that fixes it?

Excuse my ignorance - but renaming it? How would I do that?

right-click on the folder, and select ‘Rename’

The actual folder called community? Sorry, I’m being really stupid here, but what impact would that have?

That’s where your mods/liveries are stored. A CTD when clicking ‘Ready to fly’ often is related to a mod or livery.
By renaming the Community folder you prevent the mods from being loaded when the sim starts up without having to delete everything, so you can quickly check if it’s one of your mods or liveries causing the issue.

Ah ok, thanks for the tip. I tried it and no dice unfortunately. Same error. I did recently redownload the honeycomb bravo drivers mod at roughly the same time as the update come out. I might try deleting it completely and trying that again.

You did restart the sim after renaming the folder I assume?
