No matter the weather settings, i cannot seem to get it raining other than a little drizzle… Almost no droplets on the windscreen (the setting for that always reverts back to “medium”)
I’m going to make a completely useless comment to your subject, but, maybe it’s helpful…
I haven’t tried a rain preset yet, but, when it was raining here in real life, the weather in the sim matched pretty exactly to reality. So, here’s what’s related to your question, it can rain. If I get a chance, I’ll try to create rain in a preset.

Was setting up control settings the other day with live weather at my local airport and it was raining outside and also in the sim. So it does or did work unless MS broke it with one of their behind the scene fixes

- the weather is one of the things that works really well in the MSFS2024 and is also spot on !
I think the raindrops on the windscreen are meant here - just set the graphic settings to standard first and then it should be high again and the raindrops should be visible !
In the Fenix A320 the raindrops looks ‘normal’ !

I flew through some dark clouds over St Barts. The weather did mention rain and although I could hear it, I couldn’t see it?
Probably just another little bug

I said it worked for me, the other person implied an issue. I haven’t had any rain since the time I did locally so not sure if it was broken. All I was saying was that I experienced real life rain. NP 
Had the same. Could hear it but now visible rain…
