Rain effects and sounds when snowing in live weather

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

When using live weather and it is snowing, the windows and ground are showing raindrop splashes and a rain noise effect is heard.

This is only happening with live weather. Snow in custom weather is not affected.

Weather:

Snowing in live weather.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

It seems pretty consistent for me. I’ve encountered it on a few flights already, and have not found a location where the snow is appropriately silent.

Another user reported at Sounds of rain during snow but wasn’t logged as a bug for procedural reasons.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Begin a flight at an airport where it is snowing

  2. Verify snow reported on metar and can be seen falling

  3. In walkaround mode, observe and hear rain splashes.

  4. Inside the airplane, observe rain splashes on the windows and ground

  5. Switch to a manual “Snow” weather. Observe that the snowflakes continue to fall, but the splash/droplet visuals and sounds are no longer present.

MEDIA

Green circles: METAR and ATIS indicate snow. Snowflakes falling from sky

Red circle: Rain splash on ground. Rain splash noise is occurring.

CYCA

I think I found it…

Ground splashes will happen if the temperature is above -3C. I was able to confirm this with manual weather.

My capture was at -2 (splash) and your second one was at -3 (no splash). Missed it by that much.

It’s arguable whether or not this is a bug or not. Maybe they were going for a wet slush effect (though IMHO it’s not convincing).
