Hello, friends.
I have overclocked my RAM 3200mhz to 3600mhz and benefit I get in MSFS is quite inteseting.
Not so much in a FPS gain ( I’m getting some nice FPS increase by overclocking my gtx1660 and Ryzen 5 3600)
But after RAM overclocking I’m getting much smoother and stable game play, less RAM usage and less stuttering on ground.
I have tested this “theory of mine” on various sceneries and aircraft.
Can someone also test this and give us feedback, pls?
Thank You!
Ryzen 5 3600
GTX 1660
16Gb Kyngston HyperX Fury 3200 16-18-18 overclocked to 3600 18-21-21
NVME SSD 500Gb
I have tried to overclock 3200 MHz SDRAM from 3200 to 3600. It did not perform well.
Overclocking Ram is like playing the slot machines.
You have to run it at higher voltages. Can cause problems.
From users comments in this Forum, FS2020 is too stressful on Ram
and will likely not run with it.
I would not recommend it.
But, if you are lucky with Ram that will overclock, go for it.

Tnx for reply.
Yes, it was long road and lot of BIOS hard resets before I got everything steady and on very descent temperatures. I have lower mem usage on higher ram clock now in FS. My point is that maybe FS benefits more from higher ram freqs than ram size. At least, in my case with 16Gb of ram FS perfomes better than I expected.
There is a world of difference in 3200 MHZ and 3600 MHZ.
With 3600 MHZ everything displays a lot quicker.

Why in Issues Category and not a disussion thread in Blue Category ?
I can only hope other users dont try the same …
A lot of users run into issues because there memory XMP profiles caused a ctd , and these profiles are normaly manufactor “quick tested”. So… its a great work that you get a stable overclocking of your RAM, but please no recommendation in generaly
In your overclocking range I expect a maximum of +3 fps in best scenario.

Actually, truth be told, MSFS is causing no issues with GPU,CPU, and memory overclocked here. The issues I had with the XMP profile, before August 18th, was with Xplane 11. It did not like it at all. MSFS, no problems.
yep… in your case… others unfortunately not, e.g.
I didn’t overclock my RAM, but I found out tightening the timings using DRAM Calculator actually improved the FPS a little. This was Nov '20 version of MSFS doing KLAX landing with Boeing 747.

Tnx!
Well, thats 13% difference. Not so little No doubt that MSFS benefits from good RAM.
In my case, with faster RAM I got lower RAM usage also.

13% of what?
The previous Post went from 16 GB to 32 GB.
Of average FPS on the same RAM freq. but with lower timings (CL16 vs CL14)
