Random Flight Generator for FS2024

I created a little Random Flight Generator which uses the airport data from MSFS 2024. It’s a web based tool with the option to download a flight plan and adjust some settings without compromising the “randomness factor”.

Description and How-To are on the website. Feedback is very welcome, maybe it’s of use for some fellow pilots.

I updated the RFG with an option to generate flights which consist of several legs/stopovers (up to 50).

edit: fixed a couple bugs and added a few UI enhancements, so now it should work as intended

This is really cool. Thank you!

Another update: As per request from some people the RFG now offers to select a country where the random flight starts. Please note that in some cases the airport-country-mapping doesn’t always work reliably. Blame MS/Asobo, their data is incomplete and people like me or Alex Barthel from LittleNavMap (who I have been in contact about that) need to work with different data sets cobbled together, sometimes resulting in data inconsistency or ambiguity. But I would say in the majority of the cases the RFG works pretty well. Feedback is welcome, especially if you’ve found a bug.

Thanks!

question for the xbox-dudes: are you able to download the flightplans onto the console and use them?

Finally gotten around to find the time to fix an issue with the XML generation to improve 2024 compatibility.

Also added the option to filter for heliports, so the helo guys can use this too. Let me know if you find any issues… thanks and enjoy!

Just published a new version of the RFG.

This time I added the ability to include or exclude countries.

And fixed a couple more bugs related to country-airport mappings.

The Include/Exclude feature helps mitigating the issue that especially Brazil and USA will be chosen very often as a departure point simply due to the fact that these two countries have way more airports than any other countries in the world.

I’ve encountered another bug I can’t fix, because it’s a Microsoft issue. Others have probably experienced that as well.

There were people asking for the RFG to generate flight plans which can be imported in the planner tool from MS (planner.flightsimulator.com). Problem is: The planner tool does not seem to have all airports that are actually present in the simulator.

Which in essence means: Sometimes my RFG will generate plans that the MS planner cannot import because it can’t find airfields. I’m using the database from LittleNavMap, which in turn extracts the airport data from FS2024. So the RFG uses the real sim data, planner does not (as far as I was able to determine).

The RFG plans should import into the sim just fine if you use the EFB or tools like PMS50 GTN750.
