Really liking the new cockpit interaction method (update)

Ahh yeah that’s a very good reason not to use it.

It doesn’t which is why it’s frustrating. We need at least to be given that old tooltip info back on legacy as losing stuff at the sake of the new interface isn’t fair either. If you’re going to hang a new interface out there for Xbox at least let us on PC keep what we had in its entirety. The legacy mode isn’t even really legacy by definition.

I hate to gripe but it irks me so much and I really want to love the update.

huh, maybe im not understanding exactly whats missing, some kind of pop up info for the switches and such?
I ask because i havent noticed anything missing or changed in that regard other then the additions with Locked mode.

Yea the throttle percentage, mixture, altimeter, heading and OBS all of those had their readouts on the tooltip. This was especially good for flying on VATSIM where precision matters and sometimes you can’t take the time to zoom in all the way to see the small numbers on an altimeter for example.

Oh you are correct! i forgot about those, im guessing its a bug i dont see why they would remove that.
Going to send a bug report you should do the same.

Thank you. This post saved my MSFS.
Moving it to Legacy and removing the tool-tips helped my mouse work again.

Thank you

for me, there is absolutely no interaction, no matter what I did.

I cannot get the “Locked” mouse to do anything.

Move the cursor to the “ALT” dial.
It turns blue.

Clicking any mouse button or the middle button/wheel does
nothing.

Did you bind “Primary Interaction (Locked)” in the controls settings?

Thanks for the reply.

I don’t know what to assign.
I don’t know what the primary control for the cockpit is.
I thought it is the mouse.
I don’t want it to be a keyboard key.
Please advise.

Or mouse?
Thanks

Right now the primary control is nothing, because nothing is bound to it. You need to assign it to left mouse button (or whatever else you want to use).

Thank you!

My biggest issue with the new tool tips is they pop up DIRECTLY ON TOP OF what you’re trying to click

I really dislike that.
You can turn them off.

I have the mouse left button activated for Lock.

But on the ALT dial, I can change the Altitude setting by
sliding the mouse left or right.
But it is very inaccurate. I jumps around.

My middle wheel does nothing.

Don’t know how to activate it.

ASOBO should have given us procedures for any new changes.

This was not mentioned in the Release Notes.

I just can’t work the FLIGHT PLAN knobs in the G1000 anymore with this weird new interface. The inner large knob at least moves through the options but keying in the ORIGIN and DESTINATION seem impossible. Can anyone help?

Is there a special “trick” to using this weird new interface? I could not even figure out how to SWAP entry mode for NAV1 and NAV2. Absolutely hate the changes! Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Haven’t used the g1000 yet, you could try turning on instrument Tooltips in the accessibility options, it should then show how to interact.
You may also want to make sure your Mouse is using the default profile in controls.

A common new control is Left click hold + right click

The issue is with the new “LOCK” feature for what they now
call "Cockpit Interaction.

Go to Options, General Options, and click “Accessibility”.
Change the entry “Cockpit Interaction System” to “Legacy” for
the pre-SU5 mouse interaction with the cockpit.

Note that the “Lock” and Legacy" are not programmed completely
correctly by ASOBO.

But “Legacy” will let you access the cockpit with the mouse like before.

The key to the LOCK feature is to HOLD the left mouse button down

  • and then move the mouse right/left/up/down
  • and then press the right mouse button and slide the mouse
  • and then move the wheel up or down

As explained in the Release Notes.
