Recommend the best companion apps to use alongside MSFS2020

I second that, P2ATC is the best ATC add on by far. VATSIM is good if you want live controllers (who are sometimes kids!) but has its own issues. P2ATC uses voice recognition, and once over the learning curve works great, and with flight planning, radio management and moving map.

I am looking into buying one of these for myself.
If I do and depending on what country you are in, I would be happy to buy two and ship one to you for the cost of purchase and the postage.
I would not want paying for the build.

Bear with me while I research the utility of the product.

Agree re the pricing.

Meanwhile I have discovered NeoFly. an awesome add on

Hi Stu. Thank you for the info. I will give NeoFly a go as well. You should also consider LittleNavMap for navigation in general.

An ‘app’ (or just a webpage as i would call it) i started to use, especially when flying VFR is: Radio Garden

Here you have a globe where you can pick and listen to any (or many at least) radiostations around the globe.

Flying in ‘unknown’ country and tuning in to the local radio broadcast really helps with the immersion.

I think this should be added to the list somehow.

Keep up the good work.

Just discovered this myself. Absolutely awesome.
Turned on to it from a thread asking, “Do you ever listen to tunes while in FS2020?”

Guys please check out FS Map Tool www.fsmaptool.com which is a simple yet effective live map tool for iOS and Android, perfect for the casual simmer who has priority on ease of use and simplicity. The latest version 1.1.0 supports custom waypoints. Please be aware the focus of FS Map Tool is not full fledged flight data monitoring since there are other apps for that.

@GamerKingFaiz maybe you can add FS Map Tool to your list of companion apps?

I’d like to add the MSFS Mobile Companion App to the list. It is a tool that gives you a live OSM map and allows you to control essential aircraft instruments (NAV frequencies, autopilot) using almost any mobile device.

It’s free, no ads, no in-app purchases, works on Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, Mac, you name it.

You can get it in GitHub or flightsim.to.
Important notice: Don’t install the app on your mobile device! Download and run it on your PC. This creates a local webserver to which you connect via an IP address.

AeroWeather on mobile, it’s a great Metar weather app and I think $4 on your andriod or iphone.

Completely unbiased view there.

Can you add a button to chuck Mr Smith out of the door when he gets too bossy please ? (parachute optional).

Even an “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (thud)” sfx would be fun

Not to mention you can use it offline and anywhere in the world.

I did like P2A when I tried it but couldn’t justify buying it because of the crappy voices. Do you have any suggestions to overcome this?

He’s a stickler for flying correctly!

If you fancy a break from him then click “Disable Sound” (Pilots tab) and use FSFlyingSchool for flight evaluation, logging and mapping.

I’m still on my trial but I’ll definitely purchase it, it adds so much value and I can’t imagine going back to the poor MSFS ATC. Initially I thought that the ■■■■■■ voices are a dealbraker as they take away a lot of immersion for me, but to be honest, now after a while I don’t really care that much any more. I also installed X-ATC Chatter which gives a little bit atmosphere back

There are 3rd party voices you can purchase, and I’m still contemplating to buy a few of those (check out Where to get voices - Pilot2ATC Users Forum - The AVSIM Community). But you can also install some free additional Microsoft voices using the tip shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5KKop0TVnI&list=WL&index=5&t=407s), a couple of them are a little better than those 2 available by default.

Sorry for the delay, but I didn’t get any email notifications for new responses in this thread.

Thanks, added!

This is already on the list!

Skyvector is useless for Europe as the route selection does not work.

I use Plan-G in conjunction w FS2020, it provides a great level of detail incl ability to create a companion flight plan and track vs flight, to see other traffic, is a really fantastic addon.

Cheers

Mike

I just recently installed this little app:

Simple, but useful and has some potential, and it’s accessible from inside MSFS2020.
