If a good soul, wanted to make a Fouga Magistaire tutorial since the start (cold & dark) and see a cabin amphitheater, then the… what happiness it would be for those who, like me, have this magnificent device available by finding themselves like a chicken in front of a knife…
In advance, a big thank you to the one who will turn it into a potted chicken
I finally had a chance to sit down with it last night and it’s a great plane though you need to at least be somewhat proficient in French to be able to properly operate it. The biggest issue for me is no tool tips in the cockpit so I wound up needing to start it with ctrl+e, but at least I now know where the battery switch is. Once started I was able to do some flying and really appreciate it. I agree a tutorial video for at least start up would really be beneficial or perhaps a cockpit layout diagram.
It comes with an english manual which is pretty good. I still have a lot of trouble with cold and dark startups. It doesn’t seem to always work. Yesterday my left engine was starting with no problem, but the right engine refused to start. I’ve had trouble with ctrl+e starts too, which is strange. But once it’s running, it’s a great plane. Having a lot of fun with it.
OK with the English manual this thing is way less daunting to start, though I would echo others and say that I could not get the right-hand engine started.
The right engine is very tricky for me as well. I’ve found that one way that seems to work most of the time is to physically hold a starter switch (or key) and then rather than just simultaneously click and hold the button on the fuel cut off lever, click it sporadically. I’ll have to make a video because it is kind of hard to explain (and kind of funny to watch.) It’s so hard to even hit that little button without pulling the lever back. I hope Restauravia is able to make that process less of a pain in a future update.
I’ll have to play around with it more, I had tried holding the switch down and also sporadically clicking it. I have starters mapped to a couple switches on my throttle so I’ll try that as well.
Found this video which has the start up procedure, following that I got her started no problem and now I love her! only thing that could improve now is better camera views, although I have just downloaded Archer374s custom camera views so that should help, i noticed if you open or close the canopy in internal view, its not in sync with external view, so if you have it open on the ground and close it before taking off it looks like its closed so you take off then if yo9u switch to external view it shows it closing. Another thing is there is a constant click noise in internal view, well not so much a click its like a very quick pause in the engine sound that happens at regular intervals.
For a free aircraft it is fantastic, I cant see anywhere on the Restauravia to make a donation but I would happily make a small donation to show my appreciation for this.
