Thanks @HBXenomorph and @LincolnSixE For the explanation! Makes complete sense now. Too bad the sims don’t show the deflection during flight, but I guess that’s no big deal.
I feel better now. Except now I’ll be obsessed with the fact that the Spitfire is backward! LOL.
I’m waiting to purchase this awesome Corsair through Marketplace, because I have some funds there. But the Spitfire I got in Marketplace has the guns removed. A visual only difference, I’m sure. But it has me wondering if there are going to be any differences/concessions between MilViz direct and Marketplace on the Corsair. Any info would help.
Wait so FlyingIron had to remove the gun barrels from the plane for it to be published to the store?? I know the g.91 had the gun sight removed and now droppable ordnance but to make a dev remove barrels of inop guns is a bit silly.
It’s likely we will have to remove the gunsight from ours as well and, seeing as many clients want the option to remove it anyway… we’re making this happen.
(If you buy it outside of the marketplace, you will have the option to have it… or not).
Weapons are, so far, a no go for the sim. Too bad as it’s deffo part of mystique/allure of these types of aircraft. Not sure if we’re going to have to “remove” the gun ports… that might be difficult…
It may be prudent to do what SimSkunkWorks does - only remove stuff for the Marketplace. But the reward for those who buy directly may be the weapons systems intact. But that’s on you guys to decide.
The problem is that in MP, we do not have enough variables to hide/unhide things for other players as well. Even without loadouts, we don’t have enough.
What a pity to have to dumb down such a magnificent and authentic warbird just to get it into MP. This is one reason why my preference is to buy directly from the developer. I’m very much looking forward to the Corsair update release!
Thanks for the quick and honest answers. I’ll be getting this one direct. I like options I preferred the MP because I could get gift cards and not have to track more login credentials. But there are advantages to buying direct too.
Do you need to hide/unhide things? Can’t you just sell separate models, IOW, permanently remove them from the MSFS offering?
I pretty much exclusively purchase outside the Marketplace as I don’t like their business practice of not keeping track of what you’ve purchased. That seems ridiculous to me. Plus I figure you guys are getting more money if I purchase directly?
We are looking into this… right now though, our concentration is on getting the fixes in play and then, out to the marketplace whilst we investigate weapons and our next aircraft…
Amazing plane! Just a completely different feel than the Spitfire or the DCS P-51 I fly. I’ll really need to learn more to get good at it too. VR is so cool in it. I managed taking off and landing… well far right of the runway. But did I panic… a bit… when swerving to avoid the trees. But, got her parked and wings up, very cool. Looking forward to the fixes and changes that will happen over time. My first MilViz plane, not going to be the last, that’s for sure.
As I spend a little less time with the sim, I am increasingly liking having everything in the marketplace, even with the negatives mentioned above. I’m about to move to that, and stop buying direct. I think as time goes on I’ll be happy to not have to go to a half-dozen spots to update things. It’s nice to come back to the sim after a week away and not have to look around for updates.
Just my approach, others are fine too of course.

Geeez, is that really so? I was already wondering why I couldn’t enable the gunsight - for totally peaceful experiments, of course - because I had seen it on screenshots elsewhere. And I pretty much figured out which wheel to operate, but of course it wasn’t “clickable”.
And now you just confirmed what I was afraid of: a “downgrade” of functionality in the in-game market place. Ok granted, the “droppable ordnance” was more of a gimmick and I do not miss it. But an operating gunsight etc. - why drop it? Why not just make this game 12+ years, and not 12- (or whatever the criterion is)? Grrr…
Okay, so this confirms what I had already suspected (after not being able to enable the gunsight in the Fiat G.91). I must say - as a consumer - that I am disappointed that a) developers have to jump through extra loops to get their aircraft into the in-game market place and “downgrade” their aircraft (creating more work to maintain!) and b) in-game market place consumers - we! - get “less” than others!
Asobo, Microsoft: why not enable an “age confirmation” like “Yes, I am 12 years or older!” for market place items? Then you could still sell the simulator for “Under 12 years old”. Because that’s what I read elsewhere, that the FS2020 currently sells for kids under 12 years, and that is the reason they don’t want (can’t) display any sort of “weapons”.
But if they would “raise the bar” to “12 years and older” then at least the display of weapons would (apparently, I am not an expert in those “classifications”) already be okay! Geez, and who ten years old would be able to purchase something in the market place - with a credit card, which of course also goes for 12-16 years old, I assume - anyway…
(Now I didn’t say that kids younger than 12 years do not want / are not interested in FS2020! E.g. my 6 years old Godchild had all the fun flying for half an hour - I mean, sure, the examined quite often “the ground and its surroundings”, but hey! She had a hell of a laugh, and genuinely wanted to play it again another time :))
Yes, that’s what it is all about. I am no expert whatsoever about those “ratings” (and they are likely to be different for each country / contintent / region), but as someone wrote in another thread (but similar context): apparently it is all about the difference between being able to offer FS2020 to “kids under 12 years old” and “kids 12+ years old”. Apparently “showing weapons” would be okay for “kids 12+ years old”.
So that would mean we are really “sacrificing realism / functionality” for “under 12 years old”, and to be quite honest that while my 6 years old godchild had lots of fun for 30 minutes I very much doubt that there is a “serious flight simulation market for kids < 12 years old”. But hey, XBox ahead, so who knows!
PEGI and and all related ratings are all about the age - what else? And apparently FS 2020 has a PEGI rating for “12 years and younger” - which on the other hand has an impact on what can be shown in the simulator.
So from what I understand from this “PEGI 3” is that you must be able to stand for at least 10 seconds on your own two feet to be allowed to play FS2020
Now again: if they had aimed for “PEGI 12” instead it is my understanding - as per another comment in another thread - that you would then at least be able to show weapons.
