Thank you for your feedback!
Regarding the autopilot: There are VERY few Skycatchers that actually has the autopilot installed. We opted not to install the autopilot because there are so few that actually has them. The same reason we opted not to make the version that only has the single PFD and not the MFD.
Still hoping that you guys change your mind and also add the version with the autopilot at some point. I know if was an optional package but it would definitely mean more people buying the aircraft since I know a lot of casual flight simmers love to use autopilot just saying it would only make it more interesting and it would still stay true to original aircraft since it was an optional choice you could go for if you bought one in real life.
I wonder if the book numbers were achieved with wheel pants installed. They do make a difference!
Agreed – The technical methodst of being able to make a Cockpit with user variation option is now established, so there is no technical reason why it cannot be done.
The small effort to do this, would open up the potential market, for a wider range of sim pilots, looking for different options
Without; book says the fairings add about 2 knots, which would add back 1/5-1/4 the difference in speed I’m seeing (8-10 knots below quoted numbers) if they had been recorded with fairings:
By the way here’s the google search of which the first result is the PDF I’m using

I think it would require some patching to the G3X code in addition; IIRC the stock G3X doesn’t have a working autopilot UI, only the abandoned Working Title fork. Or did I misremember…?
It’s a two task process.
(1) The swapping out of the Gauges in both the model, and the code that is going to represent that swapped out gauge.
(2) Getting an AP, like the KAP140, (or any other stand alone AP, with it’s own characteristics) to work correctly, as a separate AP, just being fed with a course deviation signal, and itself controlling the plane’s AP servos, as opposed to having some Frankenstein system, where the GNS530 appears to have an AP built into it, that that combination is doing a process to control the planes servos, that is far more intelligent & complex, than the system when all the GPS does is feed the AP course deviation, and its up to the AP alone, to control it’s AP servos.
A G1000 with a built in AP module, is far more complex and coupled, than a GNS530 (or even a G1000 without a built in AP module), talking to to sperate AP, like the KAP140.
(Not all G1000s have a AP module included within them,.)
So i bought this plane yesterday and it is nice little plane.
What i have to do was fix three things.
I fix oil temp bug, added sound to doors and added autopilot.
Now i realy enjoy flying it.
I hope they just add the autopilot if it’s that easy to do, It would make a lot more people buy it.
I hope @Sebdar7075 brings those changes to the plane, like I said before more people will buy it when it has the autopilot added and since it was an option to have it added to the real aircraft it doesn’t take anything away from this bird. Also the sound added to the doors is definitely nice to have. I know the oil fix is already coming in an update.
May I ask how you managed to mod the aircraft? Is it simple? Is it something you could market? or make available to others?
Enjoyed flying the aircraft as it was simple and effective and pleasant to look at. I am slightly dissapointed as a VR user to find that planes are still being offered without VR cockpit zoom implemented. I try not to spend my money if I know it isn’t implemented but once again, I got suckered in by the pretty lights and switches (which I can’t see too good because I can’t zoom in)
i can make a mod if someone want it. but only oil temp fix and autopilot, door sounds are from another payware plane so i cant publish them.
Thanks but we should probably let the dev do his job and issue a fix for these. If nothing happens however, I think your mod would be most welcome.
They already pushed an update with a fix for the oil issue, I do hope they also decide to add the autopilot though and door sounds
Have they actually released the patch already?
I still see the same version number on the website (v1.0.0)
Unless they uploaded it and didn’t change the version number?
I don’t think it’s actually been updated yet, i still see the same
stretched raindrops on the side windows too.
From what I see in the archives on their Discord, the update has not been released yet, and there is no firm release date for it announced.
I am struggling to find the GLTF model files to do a custom livery. Anybody have success finding these or creating a livery? Only see the model.CFG file in each model folder.
Thanks in advance.
