And after that?

Hello Team Got Friends,
I have been waiting a long time for a professional version of the plane and am very pleased about the new release.
However, there are many things that could be improved in the FS with gliding.
It starts with the latching in, then goes on to the start signals, correctly long function times of the oxygen bottle (Discus 2C) and the animation of the string on the cockpit windscreens. Not forgetting sensible flight routes for F-towing, functioning instruments in the MS standard gliders (in both), etc., etc..
All the childhood illnesses in the Fs2020 have still not been eliminated. The F-tow still catapults me to 200km/h in a dive.
Please, please, finally make gliding immersive.
Don’t even get me started on clouds and waves

Love to the team

PS Mr Neumann said, we make the best gliding simulator in the world.
I remember that very well !!!
Let’s start into it!

AS 33 Me Update!
Behind the Scenes…

We’ve been working tirelessly on the AS 33 Me Glider, set to soar into both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.

This glider is shaping up to be our flagship project for gliding, and we’re committed to leaving no detail overlooked.

Today, we’re excited to share a major milestone! Here’s a sneak peek at our most intricate animation yet: fully functional bug wipers. These wipers track wing flex in real time as they move laterally, vertically, horizontally and all the rotations in-between! Most importantly, they also factor into realism like never before. The cleanliness of your wings will directly impact the flight model, whether you’re gathering bugs during a peaceful glide or navigating through rain.

We’re thrilled about the future of gliding, and we hope you are too!

Stay tuned for more photos and previews coming soon.

Cheers everyone!

Is there any way of assigning the tow release to my controller in MSFS24? I see in the MSFS24 included gliders this is possible but it seems not with the AS33Me and other add on gliders. Does anyone know of a work around? Thanks.

I wish someone developed a “wave soaring” addon for MSFS as it’s sorely missing. Sure it’s not the most common way of soaring but still, mountain wave flying would be so much fun!

As of current MSFS state there is no programming API that would allow any addon designer to specify position/shape of clouds/thermals nor shape of wind flow so no one except Ms/Asobo can implement such feature now.

Prepping for Beta…

The original (current) AS33-Me used ‘Toggle Recognition Lights’ for tow release in 2020 so you can assign that to a button in 2024. It is in embedded in the Model code which also allows you to select Launch Method as Autonomomous which got you away from Tow Airplane. Then, in-cockpit use of the assigned Recognition Lights button would give you ‘cable on’, ‘take up slack’, ‘all out’ and away you go on its own simulated winch launch. In 2024 you can still use this but you can’t avoid the tow plane so first you must pull the cockpit release to disconnect you from the tow plane. Then you can use ‘Toggle Recognition Lights’ as described. I don’t know if this will still be available when the AS33-Me is released for 2024 or if it will be aligned to Asobo (but the original AS33can still be flown there).
EDIT: forgot to say that if you use the tow plane the ‘Toggle Recognition Lights’ won’t release the cable.

:compass: AS 33 Me – Final Update Before a Month of Soaring!
We’re almost there…

The AS 33 Me releases this July 2025 for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 on PC and Xbox. It’s coming to the Got Friends Website, Contrail, and Microsoft Marketplace for $19.99. And yes, one purchase gets you everything. Two separate versions. No paywalls. Just gliding, the way it should be.

This is more than just another product. It’s the most ambitious aircraft we’ve ever developed. A true flagship for our team. And if you’ve been following our journey, you know we’ve poured months of hard work into every inch of this project—from physics to code to sounds and everything in between.

:small_airplane: Built with Purpose

The AS 33 Me started as an idea to raise the bar for gliders in MSFS. What it became is something we’re truly proud of. Additionally, we are working directly with Stefan Langer, two-time World Gliding Champion, to capture the spirit and precision of the real AS 33 Me. His real-world livery will be included to bridge the gap between the real world and the simulator.

We also teamed up with B21 (Ian Lewis) to deliver the most powerful version of the LX Family Avionics Suite ever seen in MSFS, fully updated with multi-map support and flight planning. It offers a variety of persistent settings, flightplan import control, dashboard layout customization, FLARM support, and integrated multiplayer towing. The avionics aren’t just functional—they’re essential to mastering this aircraft. Did we mention, you can also setup your hardware to use all the buttons and dials at your own leisure.

The electric motor is fully simulated. This isn’t a placeholder engine—we created a complete powerplant system with a custom interface, energy monitoring, braking logic, retractable mechanics, motor status logging, and even an auto-scrollable event history. From extension to shutdown, it behaves like the real thing. And yes, we fought through months of MSFS engine limitations to get it here… fully native and working electronic motor simulation.

You’ll manage flaps, trim, ballasts, nose weights and bug wipers for rain and grime just to get off the ground cleanly. There’s no shortcut to a good launch. Every variable matters. If you’re flying lazy, you’ll feel it. If you’re flying precise, you’ll feel rewarded.

While we don’t label anything “Study Level,” this is undeniably Expert Level. Expect to spend time dialing in your skills before you get familiar with this gliding experience. The reward? A soaring experience unlike anything else in MSFS.
