[Released] Black Square Baron and Bonanza Professional

The Bonanza with the TDS 750/650 GTN Xi combo is just about the best thing in this simulator for me. What a freaking nice aircraft this is.

I wholeheartedly agree! Fantastic aircraft model.

I’ve been working hard to get everything mapped in SPAD. (I hate mouse/keyboard control.)
The completeness of this model means a lot of things to do in SPAD.

Thank goodness I enjoy doing that!

You should. It’s a challenge, but quite rewarding. Be prepared to commit to it.
I’ve been at it for 2 years, and consider myself an ‘intemediate beginner.’

But lately I’ve been able to create some pretty cool button bindings, like Streamdeck buttons that increment and decrement controls with 2, 3, 4 settings, and knobs that control light dimmers, even buttons that change color and flash when certain conditions are met (like a gauge that changes from green to slowly flashing yellow, then fast flashing red as CHT temps change. I can even have cowl flaps automatically respond linearly to temps and IAS. Fun stuff.

The biggest downside (if you want to call it that) is that it takes a lot of time to get a cockpit set up so that you hardly ever need to use your mouse or keyboard. That my personal holy grail, and it can easily take 20 hours of work to achieve. That means less flight time. But once a model is fully set up, it’s really rewarding.

Folks on the SPAD Discord are very helpful, and there are a lot of snippets they’ve created that can map things for you as you learn.

Sounds like a nightmare to me.

Right now it’s an Asobo issue with 1.6.34.0

You need to be able to enjoy the results from a challenging learning curve. Not everyone does.
It’s not for everyone.

It’s analogous to being happy with an Xbox, or being happy tuning a PC for maximum performance.

I echo your sentiments. I created an entire overhead panel for the 737 on a touch tablet that graphically represents the panel and responds to inputs - switch positions, lights, etc. I am having a blast with it.

I find it very similar to programming synthesizers and other music gear. If you have a taste for logic and mild coding, the sky really is the limit. If not, there are still basic features that are fairly accessible. And you can copy and paste a lot of things, then tweak from there. There are also published “snippets” of configurations others have done that you can pull directly into the program.

The downside is each modeler uses slightly different variables, so if you’re going in blind you have to get to know the nomenclature for each. But a benefit of that is you get to see, to an extent, how the meat is ground, and realize how much effort (or not) goes into these planes (and also why changes to the sim tend to screw a lot of things up).

But more than anything, it’ll wrangle all your gear across multiple aircraft. I have no problem going from the 737 to the Comanche to the Baron, which makes it extremely worth it.

Folks can we get this back on track?
Please keep your posts to the topic at hand.

Using SPAD next with the BlackSquare Baron is a blast and very rewarding. If you have a lot of controls and need to map them to a product such as the BlackSquare Baron, which can be a handful otherwise, I recommend it. This allows you to get the maximum potential from your setup and use all the controls on the BlackSquare Baron in a tactile manner. If anyone needs help with it, hit me up on my Discord (in profile).

I’ve spent a lot of time using SPAD to program my peripherals for the Black Square Bonanza Pro.
I’m almost finished. I had some issues with circuit breakers, but the developer was very helpful on the JustFlight forum.

I love the Bonanza Pro. And I love Black Square.
I’'m going to get into the Baron Pro next - in SPAD…

I haven’t flown at high altitude in a long time, but the Bonanza Pro A36TC can do 20000 AGL.
Pretty happy (heck…VERY happy!) with this performance.

  • LOD 400/200
  • Mostly Ultra/High
  • No frame gen, no FPS cap
  • DLSS Quality (310.4, Preset J) - nVidia 576.52
  • FSLTL ON.
  • Sweet.

A36TC definitely my trusted go to in the Bonanza. Just feels like the perfect combination in this airplane.

Sure but without pressurization you’ll have to start descent so early that it’s mostly pointless climbing that high.

You have oxygen.

Doesn’t help with ear pain.

Opening storm window in bonanza or Baron doesn’t have any effect on inside temperature during flight, quite strange considering the amount of fidelity put into the environmental simulation.

It’s just a system performance test.

I normally fly GA around 5000 AGL or less, unless there are mountains in the way. Then it’s nice to have that turbocharger on tap.

Interesting. I’ll test that out and report it in the JustFlight forum.
The developer strikes me as a perfectionist, and that might be something he would implement.

Surely ear pain should only be a thing if for some reason you are unable to equalise the pressure on both sides of your eardrum? For most healthy people I do not think this should be an issue
