[Released] C210 Turbo from Carenado for 2024

That’s not what ended 210 production.

The Cessna 210 went out of production in 1986 amidst an industry-wide collapse in GA aircraft sales/production, which was driven by a mix of liability concerns, rising insurance rates, the market becoming saturated, and economic changes that meant far fewer people had the disposable income to buy GA airplanes.

I’m still trying to figure out what mental gymnastics a lawyer would perform to warrant a lawsuit due to the pilot forgetting to extend the landing gear. What, exactly, in that is Cessna’s fault, again?

AI helped me locate four cases against Cessna involving the 210, but none were related to the landing gear.

Where did you get this information?

The G1000 is a very specific, complete instrument package that is only authorized in certain planes, the C210 not being one of them (it ceased production decades before the G1000 was invented). It’s not retrofittable except in very few cases (again, in aircraft types for which it’s already designated), so slapping it in most aircraft is very unrealistic; a practice that needs to end.

What is really needed is a Garmin G500, which would give you similar glass-cockpit capability as a common retrofit. I have a wishlist thread asking them to add that unit to the stable of available instruments.

There were many gear issues, especially with the early 210’s and so many tried to sue Cessna in any case. Most liveries flying today actually had at least one wheels up during its lifetime.

Where do I get the info ? personal knowledge of this aircraft and pilots that fly it over decades and I find it strange that AI would even know and put that into question… lol.

Gear issues (doors, right?) and “forgetting” are two different things entirely, ha!

Having flown this slippery aircraft it is hard to imaging one could get it down to a reasonable landing speed with the gear up.

Yes they are different - but some wealthy clients still tried to blame the manufacturer or their AMOs. That being said - servicing the gear has always required some expertise. One of my previous co-owners actually had a gear collapse on another 210 directly after gear maintenance because something was flawed apparently with the actuators - but they could never really prove it and it was met with denial. The aircraft ended up being a write-off.

I knew at least 4 other people personally that have had gear up landings in the 210 - mostly through distraction, unprofessionalism and negligence. I myself am very modest however and would never say: it will never happen to me - fingers crossed.

What killed most people however was low speed errors in the circuit or bad fuel management.

All of these kinds of issues led to the decision to stop production in 1986 - although this is even more sad because with the R model - all of the design issues and flaws that owners were dealing with were actually lore or less resolved.

This is a C210 with Garmin avionics upgrades. It is beautiful.

I do not like them TV screens tbh. :star_struck: I decided for dual G5’s and replaced the AP with the GFC500, GTX345 for ADS-B - rest of the panel is authentic - plus a JPI EDM830.

This should not be such a difficult mod to make in MSFS - G5’s and the AP are native in the sim and the GNS530w/430 is already there… EDM830 would be nice.

That’d be great for me except in-sim G5 is woefully incomplete. It’s really only useable as an attitude indicator. It needs the full working title treatment.

Looks like a G500Txi. Would love that as an option!

Okay – I thought I was going insane!!
Would be nICE to have – that info. Is there any readily available way of getting it from within the sim/simple menu app?

What is this weird audio I am hearing when I enter the cockpit?

SU4 Beta .15.

Sounds like ambient wind. Try a preset with wind turned off completely.

That is what I thought, but outside the aircraft it’s calm. The windsock is barely fluttering. You can see it screen right.

I’m not hearing anything like that in SU3, a beta thing perhaps?

That is what I was wondering. I didn’t note it on earlier SU4 Beta builds, either.

New day. Significantly worse weather conditions. No weird audio. This sim is remarkably funny, at times.
