The latest Dfflyer scenery pack features my hometown, Frankfurt. I’ve always loved Dfflyer’s night lighting. But now I know that it doesn’t just look good—it’s also very accurate. Yes, that’s what the Frankfurt skyline looks like at night.
I’m really excited about the scenery pack. After work, I’ll go get it and share some screenshots.

Wow! Lovely! Finally a new City Scenery for my hometown…
Was an instant buy from ORBX and a first test really showed a beautiful Frankfurt City - Thank you!!
Unfortunately I experienced one “small” problem:
The main railway station is missing.
I’m sure I saw it on the screenshots in the store. On my computer it’s just a flat area where the main terminal hall would actually be… Do you have any idea what could cause this?
For info: I have photogrammetry switched off and no conflicting other Frankfurt (city) sceneries except the Aerosoft EDDF airport.
regards,
Benni T.
I’m very happy with the scenery!
As usual with Dfflyer, the night lighting is absolutely top-notch. The Messeturm and Commerzbank Tower look wonderful at night. And there are really a lot of buildings modeled. If I were to be extremely critical, I’d say that a few buildings look a little too cartoonish. But that only applies to a handful of buildings.
Overall, once again a great city pack that I highly recommend. And the night approach to EDDF is now truly beautiful. Thanks, Dfflyer!
That’s because photogrammetry is turned off and I did not model the train station, in the screenshots the train station you can see is photogrammetry.
I use photogrammetry and typically that is my focus, however, that’s obviously an important landmark that should be included with photogrammetry off and that’s a miss on my end. With photogrammetry on, typically the most impactful buildings to handcraft are tall buildings. Short buildings in photogrammetry typically look better and have less room for improvement since the majority of what you see is straight top-down satellite, which is very strong. I will add a note to self to include the station in a future update, I estimate ready in July. It will take some time as I like to accumulate a few additional updates as well and it will need to work its way through my development cycle.
I’ll also implement a process in my development going so that I check important landmarks that should be included with photogrammetry off in my planning stage, as that will be a different calculus than important landmarks with photogrammetry on.
Glad you’re enjoying it! I think the night lighting in particular had lots of room for improvement. If you’re willing to share list of cartoonish buildings with my I will do what I can to improve them in the update mentioned above. I plan on dedicating the whole month of July to updates across my product line, the more the merrier!
Absolutely! Especially when you land on Runway 25R, you fly relatively close to the skyline. But with the standard Asobo scenery, it didn’t look authentic at all. I’m really happy that there’s now such a great scenery pack available for Frankfurt. Thanks again!
I’d be happy to put together a short list of minor optimization suggestions for the planned July update.
