FS2024 native and backported for MSFS. Not sure how the various navigation apps/mods are going to recognise it, and AI traffic add-ons surely won’t populate it.
Interesting, but kinda weird at the same time
Have any companies already announced that they will serve it when it opens?
Qantas, Air NZ, Jetstar and Singapore are the only ones so far, I think.
Definitely am doing heaps of ops out of YSWS all around Australia and even to overseas.
Was it really released? I can’t find it on any store I use (Contrail, Orbx or IniBuilds).
EDIT: Sorry, it’s been really released. I found it on SimMarket, 24 eur vat included.
Well, now I’ve seen everything. Making a sim version of an airport that won’t actually exist for another year or more truly gives new meaning to “early access”. Guess the interiors are all based on the architectural sketches and renderings.
I’m a big fan of Drzewiecki’s work, purchasing almost everything they release but I’m hesitating with this one. I understand that they wanted to have a head start before other developers but the lack of AI traffic seems to be a game-stopper for me.
I believe the entire terminal was completed two weeks ago and is now ready for 12 months’ testing. Presumably the interior is already done?
Ah yeah, that makes sense. All the web pages I could find (example below) had the same pics by a guy who seems to be working for Woods Bagot, so I thought they were still architectural firm CGI (who can even tell the difference nowadays!). Wonder whether Drzewiecki were in contact with them. Certainly the curvy timber roof etc seem spot on.
I’m curious to know how the Nav data will work with this. SimBreif doesn’t recognise YSWS yet (and obviously neither does Navigraph charts).
If that can be enabled soon, then I’d definitely be keen for it.
As for reference material, There’s probably a lot of people involved in construction working that can provide reference material, plus there’s plenty of photos and videos online too.
No Cartayana GSX Configuration available yet it seems for YSWS unlike the ones available for other Drzwiecki Design airports but there will be one in a pack next month according to Cartayna (I asked via Facebook).
Indeed the terminal is complete and officially opened. The ancilliary structures and freight terminals are well advanced in construction as is the M12 motorway link and the Metro rail link. Runways, taxiways and lighting are all in place and functional. I don’t think Drzewiecki had to do much guessing.
Air Services Australia have just gone from propsal phase to detailed planning phase on the SID/STAR planning. There’s a document online already for the changes to the proposal. There’s slight changes to YSSY SID/STARs, some airway routes and a whole set of new SID/STARS for YSWS, with waypoints mostly named. So I dare say once that’s implimented into the real AIRAC cycle, it’ll get added to Navigraph etc, and then it’ll pop up in MSFS at some point after that.
That’s just a guess, though. That doesn’t even include frequences etc which the Dev will have to implement when it’s finally known.
