Those ones are all included with the plane!
So like the throttle quadrant of FlyingIron’s Hellcat?
Just so.
.
This bird is a blast to fly. The sounds are exquisite. I had a great time flying it tonight. Another win from Got Friends.
I know the checklist says against it…but…is it “okay” to land with flaps up?
Engine out performance is abysmal. I’m down to 100 kts and -1500fpm almost immediately.
did you pull back the prop pitch all the way?
Can’t say for certain, but nothing about looking at the Wildcat says to me, “looks like it glides well”.
Are we sure that this isn’t accurate?
Hehe, true. It looks like an oil barrel with wings. Not the most aerodynamic shape.
Most planes are at least capable of landing flaps up. Just be aware of the consequences of doing so.
I would think landing flaps up on the boat would technically be an emergency procedure however.
Unless the manual, specifically prohibits it?
The manual has the flaps down for landing. But yeah obviously one “can” land with no flaps in most aircraft.
I’m going to try it now with flaps up to see how things feel.
Has anyone noticed a dip in performance when switching to an external view? My performance seems to be fine in the computer but when I switch to the external view I start getting stuttering. I tried out a different plane of the same size, type and detail level and didn’t have the same performance hit. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this. I may try to reinstall it and see what happens.
Landing speed will be faster and stall speed higher for a tail dragger a 3 point is out would have to try and wheel land it
Does it only last a couple seconds? I have noticed it, and the same thing happens with the Double Ender.
It does seem to calm down after a few seconds. Good spot.

@pby5a was kind enough to recreate Capt Freuler USMC’s Wildcat 8. I’ve linked the historical reference above for anyone who is interested.
It’s a beautiful livery alongside “Hammerin’ Hank” Elrod’s aircraft courtesy of Gotfiriends.
Really hoping for someone to do a repaint of the Military Aviation Museum’s example (I requested it on Flightsim.to). It’ll go great with the museum airfield scenery I helped develop.
Just a few pics of the Wildcat. Liveries by Jankees/@pby5a. Wake Island 1941 scenery by Johnnypropeller. Pilot by Gotfriends.
Truly, it takes a village!

Thanks to everyone for an incredible Wildcat, pilot, scenery, and liveries!
Yeah i’m having a blast with this as well. It’s inducing the same effect on me the way the Commanche did…meaning…not flying anything else recently.
Best sounds i’ve heard in an aircraft period. Just incredible.
Goes to show how a great soundset can lift the rating of an aircraft, not that this one needs the lift from the “sounds” points anyway since it has a lot more going on for it!
