KORF (Veritcalsim) to KEWR (Drzewiecki), live weather and SimLink on, no traffic, MVFR. CTD’ed on flight load so I rebooted the sim since time had been invested in SimBrief. Second load was successful, but I kept to a cockpit view so as to not challenge the Series X. Got SimLink running enroute: position appeared in Navigraph on both the laptop and iPad! For fun, I had the new FAA VFR Sectional on the laptop and the IFR Low chart on the iPad. ILS 4R in light rain once out of the high overcast. Hand flew the approach once stabilized and the landing. Got half way down the runway then the G1000Nxi BS’ed. This is actually very good performance, as once down on the ground it’s no problem to taxi and shutdown without screens. Taxied to GA in beta, albeit without SimLink or charts, but easy enough to do it the old fashioned way (I love charts and maps). This is a successful test flight given the demands of these airport add-ons while rendering weather and transmitting location!

First off this has quickly become my favorite aircraft.

How did you get SimLink running? I’m in-progress with a flight now and can’t seem to figure it out. I have simbrief and Navigraph running well and to clarify I’m on a Series X as well

G1000, Navigraph settings..

KPSP (Axonos) to KPHX (BMworld/Amsim) saw a BS at the Final Approach Fix to ILS 7R, TOTIE, in VMC with live weather on and no traffic. The Piper was configured for landing so I just pressed on and put her down. Could be a good rule of thumb, get it configured for landing and comfortably off autopilot before the FAF? Just a thought. Very nice flight in any case, this is a big add-on airport so not much need for me to go back there in the Piper.

First off, thank you to @SimbolFSReborn for a fantastic release. I bought both the SWS PC-12 and the FSR500, largely because I like both aircraft and want to support the developers.

But the FSR500 is getting all my attention at this point.

As a show of thanks, I thought I’d share a quick little hack I whipped up last night. It’s pretty scabby, made of random parts I had laying around the workshop, but hopefully it inspires someone with a 3d printer to do it up properly.

Disclaimer - excuse the poor photos and description
technically I’m supposed to be paying attention to a meeting

What I made was a basic t-nut that holds a magnet in an unused track of my Bravo. This is then positioned to grab another magnet attached to the power lever.

I think all of us here know what this means - adjustable detent!

Pictures:

I cut the t-nut by hand from an old plastic cutting board, drilled a guide hole, put a spacer on top (in my case a left over chainring nut from an old bicycle crankset), and threaded the bolt into place.

Push the t-nut through the Bravo track, turn 90 degrees, and pull up. This secures the t-nut into the track and pulls the wings up against the underside of the Bravo housing. Slide the assembly to where you want your detent set (I chose 25% up from the Flight Detent for now) and tighten the bolt.

For the magnet I used a hose clip from a Camelbak backpack. It clips perfectly around the spacer and holds the magnet at the right place.

Tape a magnet or two against the power lever and you’re done!

If you don’t like where the detent is, you can loosen the bolt and reposition the detent. If you’re flying something that doesn’t need the detent, you can just rotate the magnet away from the power lever.

Might take some adjustment, I haven’t fully played with it myself. I’d like to put some sort of plug to cover the bolt and maybe find a nicer way to hold the magnet to the lever.

Anyways, I hope this gives someone some ideas! :beers:

Hi Guys,

I have the pleasure to announce later today FSR500 version 1.0.13 will be available via a Market Place update . This version unique change is the introduction of .LITE Liveries, which sole purpose is to increase performance even more when required, although they were particularly designed for the XBOX console with the intention to reduce the chances of any ABO (Avionics Black Outs), they can be also used by PC users when required.

Please note I strongly recommend to continue using the XBOX optimisation settings explained via the user manual pages 10 to 11 in order to maximize your performance and experience on consoles (specially if you are using a Xbox-S) and use the new .LITE liveries which contains very specific and crafted texture optimizations in order to ensure your consoles RAM usage remains at minimum.

By using our recommended setting + the .LITE liveries, you will reduce heavily any chance of ABOs, however please note these can still occur under very specific circumstances, such as, when using custom / 3rd party badly optimized sceneries for XBOX, however our internal XBOX beta team tested FSR500 heavily in KLAS area, Tokyo and many other well know places responsible for ABOs with other 3rd party aircraft and we are delighted to report that FSR500 behaved perfectly inside these areas without incurring into any ABOs.

How to use these new liveries?

Using the .LITE liveries is very simple, all you need to do is load the MSFS livery selector and find your preferred official FSR Livery with the title - Lite next to it (see attached pictures for reference), and voila, all done, that simple.

What is next?

This will the last scheduled update for FSR500 for this year, my next schedule update for FSR500 is late January - Mid February 2024 where I will introduce new features that were planned in the road map plus some feature requests you all have been submitting as feedback since launch. After this update is completed, more updates will come but at a slower pace since I will retire back to my cave and start to work on Phenom 300E full time.

Thanks to everyone for the massive support so far, it feels me with incredible joy to see how much you guys love the product and how much you guys enjoy flying it.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas 2023 and a massive amazing new year 2024!.

All my love,
Raul

You really missed a trick with this almost awesome abbreviation. Should be ASBO (Avionics Systems Black Outs). Maybe this only works in Britain though

Thanks but I wish this was optional. The last thing I want is yet more liveries.

Ha
maybe the only thing that works in Britain

I think this just goes to prove that a developer can never hope to make everyone happy :slightly_smiling_face:

I can understand maybe where you are coming from here but I am guessing also that a lot of other simers will no doubt find this very welcome.

I myself will give them a go and if there is a decent performance benefit then I might use that to turn up some settings.

Perhaps Avionics System Occasional Black Outs (Asobo)?

Hi, Raul,

Absolutely love this aircraft, as I did the Sting when it came out.

Question for you, though,

I was running a mission in Neofly, and landed successfully. Neofly told me my landing was “butter smooth”, with a VS of 79 FPM.

However, the FSR500 EFB said: “The passengers were not impressed with that landing.”

What’s a guy gotta do to get a “Hell, yeah!”?

I thought it was funny, but my feelings were hurt a little bit
 Just kidding.

Best regards,
Bill

I measure the landings in Gforces not fpm, mostly because the slope on runway now and that’s is more accurate than fpm.

Remember I am attached to the core of the sim, i am able to measure the gforces during landing on each rendering frame, where neofly cannot, they probably do it each second..

So not only both will measure different things, also at different stages..

My simulation can catch the exact Gforce on touch down  .

Best,
Raul

This is not a ‘liveries’ update. It’s a duplicate set of the same liveries that include less demanding textures, designed to increase performance for those with Xbox and lower performing PC’s.

They are optional. Just don’t load a LITE livery.
