Do we have an ETA for that one ?
It’s Orbx… we’re still waiting for their KDTW, which was “due to be released not long after the city pack”. Needless to say, the city was released a year ago.
Are you having issues with it not installing after purchasing from the in-game Marketplace?
Yep. I requested a refund, but I’m not very hopeful that I’ll get a refund. I can live with the default KDFW. Especially after paying $30 for it and feeling like I just got robbed.
The purchase experience from the Marketplaces (2020 and 2024) are degrading to the point where my high tolorance thus far is coming to and end.
I don’t play a lot of other games. On the other games I’ve played, the one thing that usually works is the part of the game that generates revenue for the game - even when the game is down for one reason or another.
Not a big deal for me… just a learning experience going forth regarding the Marketplace - a $30 loss learning experience.
I have been talking to the people at both MS and Imagine Sim. MS gave me support help that was the same as the FAQ for “not installed.” They told me to delete the content.xml file. That file no longer exist. it was removed several years ago in a update.
Image sim only had my report of it not working in marketplace. They are now getting more. they also said they deleted it and tried to reinstall via Marketplace. They are now having the same issue and are going to get back to me. They aren’t getting any response from MS to see what the issue is.
Hey all,
It looks like the Marketplace Team have already been notified about this issue regarding the inability to install after purchasing this product.
Apologies for any convenience and thanks for your patience and reports!
The MSFS Team
Will there be some announcement for those of us who have purchased this product as to when it is fixed and able to be downloaded again???
Did you get a refund? I have been working with the Zendesk and they are useless. They told me to delete the content.xml. When I told them the content.xml was no longer available because Asbobo removed it some time ago. They wrote back that the matter is considered resolved because their suggestions didn’t work. I even sent them links showing that the content.xml wasn’t no longer available end users.
At this point. I don’t blame Imaginesim because MS isn’t answering Imaginesim’s efforts to fix the problem. MS is knowingly selling a product that doesn’t work and refuses to refund to make the situation right. They are so rich now they don’t care.
They did the same to me — blatant disregard for the law — they’re banking on you just letting it drop. I reported it to both my bank and UK trading standards… and got my refund. It is simply illegal to not refund for products that don’t work as sold.
The more we tolerate this behaviour, the more they’ll keep getting away with it.
I just looked on the Marketplace and it is no longer available. The only reason I by things on the Marketplace is because I end up paying more if I go to the creator if they are not in the US. By bank tags me with an international transaction fee of 3-5%, even if I use paypal.
I don’t even have a statement from the bank yet to get my refund. They want that even though my payments are through my MS Account.
If it’s been removed from Marketplace, I believe you’re automatically entitled to a refund.
No. It is why I stated that I considered this purchase a hard “learning experience” - a loss.
IMO:
MSFS is a psychological experiment - an exercise in marketing practices to test the limits of liability and the tolerance of this market.
- Addons offered with default cockpits that are from a different aircraft.
- → Addons with no cockpit at all
- → Incomplete addons
- → Unfinished addons marketed as release
- → The actual release of the MSFS 2024 platform
- → The UI that continues to develop in a manner to maximize the total time you spend in the game trying to get it to work (as oppossed to enjoying a product or service provided) - contributing to game metrics to compensate for those that haven’t come back to the game yet.
- → One of the most, or possibly THE most, expensive airport addons offered to subjects/customers and… ‘You’ll get nothing, and like it!’
Just a possible perspective.
Although, it’s consistent with many other product and services offered in the World today - The New Norm.
So no, I considered it a painful loss, so I never forget the developer - Imaginesim in the MSFS Markeplace.
I miss the FSX days. I was talking to someone that I have known for decades about this today. In the days of FSX, I never made one purchase of payware as an addon. You could find better quality stuff and a better variety of aircraft. I remember a group making a helicopter that I wanted. it didn’t have the panel I was interested in. I wrote them. About 4 weeks later I get an email back with a file. They made the aircraft with the panel, no charge. They didn’t even release to anybody else. I would talk to people all over the world and work on projects with them. Now it is so expensive to get to get involved and its all about $$$$.
I asked HPG last year about the 145. Asked if they were planning on doing a US HEMS setup with a tail rotor. Generic 145. They said nope. I wish I could show the scenery I had designed over the years. All of it is not even able to be used in MSFS2020 or 24. Years of work gone.
Well, I don’t miss FSX. It is why I recklessly purchase airport addons like this one - Albeit with more caution now, after this experience.
FSX was:
- $5000+ for MegaSceneryEarth photoscenery …completely flat scenery … covered most of the world, but not all.
- Hundreds of dollars for terrain mesh to put the photoscenery on.
- Each city had to be purchased separately
- Airports also had to be purchased separately back then
- Quality audio for almost all aircraft addons had to be purchased separately
- Navigraph was just getting started
- Very limited peripheral options and support
- It was a requirement that you were fluent in editing the files of an addon, as well as FSX itself.
- We can’t get away from FSX, every Thursday there’s a flood of FSX addons in the Marketplace to remind us of what it was like.
And none of it looked anything like a photograph of the area you wanted to fly and explore.
MSFS 2020 and 2024 has it’s faults, but it is truly a miracle delivered… just about anyways - when it works as we believe it to be intended. …Marketplace and UI
I bought KDFW direct from the dev and it’s miles better than the default KDFW with all of its texture and ground morphing issues. Imaginsims is better than that by a lot and makes KDFW useable for the first time since I bought mfs2020 on launch day. If Asobo gets the marketplace version working everyone here will see it’s an improvement over the worst handcrafted default msasobo airport in flight simulator.
I wish I had bought from the dev myself. I am just tired of all the installers, the management of the keys and passwords. I found the Marketplace is easy for that part. But easy isn’t always the best.
I’m thinking of buying KDFW. Wish I could make the purchase from IniBuilds, Orbx, or Contrail but does not seem like they sell through them – only the MS Marketplace which I avoid like the plague. Never purchased directly from ImagineSim before. Do they have an app or any whacky installers?
I purchased the KDFW Imaginesim product and find the new default scenery is just as good. Plus I was getting a CTD on occasion using the Imaginesim product in 2024. I have since deleted it and only use the default scenery with much better performance at this time. I have a RTX 4090 with an AMD 7950X3D chip
That’s not good. I don’t typical focus on performance at all but if it only looks as good as default, don’t really see the point. Kind of a shame. Hopefully, they keep working on it.
I agree. It isn’t terrible it’s just not amazing, and the performance is sub par.
