RELEASED: Imaginesim Dallas Forth Worth KDFW

A pretty significant release, being one of the most requested airports for the sim. There’s a lot of negativity surrounding this one — while it’s not going to be the most innovative or detailed scenery out there, it doesn’t look bad to me. It actually seems to place AI traffic very realistically, which is always good to see.

Bit of a hefty price, though, at £24.99 (€29 or $33).

One thing that hasn’t been made particularly clear: while Imaginesim says that a 2024 version will be made available for free at some point in the future, they don’t explicitly say whether or not the release (2020) version will function in 2024. My guess is “no”, but I can’t tell from what I’ve read so far.

And the price is steep for the level of detail, although admittedly it IS a big airport…

They’re also likely capitalising on the fact that theirs is currently the only option for KDFW.

I’m in no hurry but if KDFW were my local airport, I’d probably be stumping up that £25…

To be honest I’ve never understood the negativity and toxicity around this addon (and Imaginesim in general). It’s still way better than Asobo (Gaya) version. I’ll wait for the FS24 version though.

Without going off on too much of a tangent, there’s way too much selective negativity in the flight simming community these days. Aerosoft EDDF took the same kind of criticism, before it was even released (I think the product is great), and their new EDDL is now in the firing line.

If we carry on like this, there won’t be any third-party products left to buy! People really need to be more objective.

I dare say this new version of KDFW isn’t Pyreegue, Flightbeam or FlyTampa quality; but if people are so set against it, they’re quite welcome to continue using the broken Asobo version. Some in this community clearly feel aggrieved by other people enjoying themselves. I just don’t get it.

I just got it but had the same ground texture issue I had with the default version. I used the “fix” that was put out last summer and it fixed everything including terrain issues like uneven runways and missing bridges. There’s something about that “fs-base-coverage-map-us2-tin” folder that really degrades KDFW. Once removed, the scenery looks pretty good! Again, I’ve only completed one landing into the new scenery and taxiied around a bit, prior to using the fix.

Does anyone know if the current 2020 version will work with 2024? I could wait for the 2024 but since the upgrade is free I’d pick it up now if it works.

Anyone having issues with this scenery and City Update X?
Taxiway B is broken again at the bridge.

No I am not. Purchased this when @JakTrax78 posted this thread. I fly out of KXNA, so been waiting for a KDFW.

My log book indicates I have purchased 92 U.S. addon airports. Out of the 92, this one KDFW, ranks in my top 5.

I downloaded an another update that takes the large 4k liveries from fly by wire fsltl to 2k.

Before all of this, I was only getting 40 to 55 fps at generic kdfw, now I am up to 83fps with this new KDFW addon airport.

Good scenery but anyone know why there’s not a working air train or how to get the air train to show? It’s not running around on the tracks from what I can see. Even the bad Ms default KDFW had a working air train

It’s an option that you can enable/disable in the ImagineSim Operations Center. By default I believe it’s disabled.

This airport just showed up in the marketplace today. I think it sets the record as the most expensive airport in the sim currently. But why? Since the last USA update the hand crafted KDFW is actually better than before and looks near the same level of fidelity.

How much??

Has anybody got it to install? Mine says “not installed” in the content manager. Imagine Sim support told me to reach out to MS about it.

I totally agree!

Imaginesim has a history of offering mediocre airports for MSFS that are badly overpriced. Their KATL was also one of the most expensive airports in the sim, was nowhere near the level of lesser priced mega-airports from top developers, and arguably it wasn’t even as good as the Asobo/Gaya version that came out in the World update. As a result, many of us ended up uninstalling it. In fairness, they seem to have upped their game somewhat for KDFW, but I’m still not seeing anything that would justify the price. Personally, I’m still angry about KATL. Maybe if they redo that airport properly and do right by the customers who bought it, I’ll consider another Imaginesim product. Until then I’m not buying from them.

Feel same way about Atlanta. Granted, a huge airport but nothing special for the price at all. And, it is a pretty important airport in the U.S.

Matteo Veneziani (under the Orbx banner) is doing KATL and I imagine (no pun intended!) it’ll be far superior to the current payware.

In 4 years I have never requested a refund on any product I’ve purchased from the Marketplace. THIS addon is the ULTIMATE slap in the face for Marketplace customers.

You’ll get nothing…and like it!

NOTE: It must work (actually install) if you buy it from somewhere besides the MSFS Marketplace.
