Give it some time and love and I doubt you’ll regret buying it. I love my PMDG 738 but the 146 rivals it in every way.
By the way, CityJet will almost certainly be included with the future Avro upgrade.

Or grab Cityjet here… ![]()
That’s greay news
I may be swayed so ![]()
I’m on Xbox so not for me unfortunately ![]()
To be honest I’m very pedantic when it comes to realism and so a 146 in CityJet livery just wouldn’t cut it for me. Very few physical differences but there are a couple of discreet ones that do give it away. Happy to wait till the ARJ pack releases.
So apparently (I don’t own Bae146 yet) the introduced weather radar is fully functional with tilt and everything. And according to one video I have found the weather radar capability is already implemented in MSFS but requires knowledgable devs to utilise it. Can you confirm it is true, that the weather radar is fully functional and utilises some not-much-known MSFS functionality? Can you share some insight how did you develop the WX radar for Bae146?
CityJet operated both 146-100 and 146-200 aircraft
Yesterday I received an email from JF saying an update is available to 1.10… but I already got that version. Is this some kind of a hot fix or should I keep the version I have?
I got the same email. Assume it was an over-eager or forgetful mailing server shooting it again ![]()
This is not true. It’s the second time I hear this mentioned so I don’t know who is spreading this. Tilt does not work and it doesn’t look like this is using anything other than the standard MSFS WX radar API.
From the JF forums: WX Radar in the BAE146 - is it really working as expected? | Just Flight Community
I never said they didn’t. But it’s not included in JF’s package and the repaint is for a reg. that was in fact an RJ85.
Flew the latest version tonight, just a quick trip & haven’t flown anything for a while. Noticed:
Otherwise all seems to work like it already did.
Regarding the wipers, the sim itself doesn’t have any support for wipers dynamically clearing the windscreeen of precipitation. None of the stock aircraft actually have “working” wipers either, which is a real disappointment in the rain. Maybe JF can find a way to override that or do some sort of trickery to mimic it, but as it currently stands it’s not something the sim can do. Unless you’re saying they did work at one point and now they don’t.
I think what we’re both saying is that we got the same (looking) email notification twice.
Thank you for clarifying that! My info came from this video, which states:
One of the standout additions in this update is the introduction of a brand new weather radar system. For avid simmers who value realism and accuracy, this is particularly exciting news. Now, many might be surprised by this, considering a lot of the community believes a proper weather radar isn’t actually implemented within Microsoft Flight Simulator. However, some rather learned individuals in the community suggest otherwise. Apparently, the weather radar feature within Microsoft Flight Simulator does support conical, vertical, as well as horizontal modes. It’s just not too straightforward to implement for third-party developers. That’s what the problem is. Just Flight happens to be one of the first to properly use it in their add-on.
Do I understand correctly this is a bunch of bs?
Not entirely, the WX radar has been supporting a topview, horizontal and vertical mode for a while. It’s a long standing myth that it only supported a topview. The radar cone angle can also be configured. Tilt is however NOT supported currently in the SDK, so devs cannot implement it.
As for which mode is implemented in the 146 I don’t know (topview vs horizontal/vertical), but it’s definitely not the only/first plane that implements the WX radar with these modes.
What the WX radar API does not offer is direct access to the raw data, so any kind of advanced radar features or device-specific visualizations are not really possible. Devs can only show the radar return images the sim provides them (except for some coloring options). That’s why it hasn’t really been added to most of the deeply simulated airliners as it wouldn’t look/behave like the real thing for that type.
Just purchased the 146 on Xbox watched few YouTube vids on Jonathan Becketts channel very helpful chap.
First test flight Gatwick to Edinburgh cold&dark and wow busy busy busy in cockpit I missed glide slope but I will work on that. I love the change up from pmdg 737 very different obviously 146 bit of hard graft
. Flight model, audio top notch from just flight well done guys
Best aircraft on xbox by a country mile
I don’t remember having to uise the wipers before, as I said. If they don’t work on any aircraft ( I can’t remember using them on anything else either! I can see in the rain just fine, normally ) then that is a disappointment and pretty ridiculous - working wipers have been a feature of sims for many years at this point. From the SDK description of how rain works I can’t see a way of fudging it with an animation either.
