Has anyone done a comparison between the Miltech CH47D and the 2024 premium deluxe edition CH47D from Blackbird (f/k/a Milviz)?
There is no comparison. Blackbirds flight model has some specific things going for it, but also some playability shortcomings. In game it doesnât respond to control inputs as intuitively as the Miltech. It feels like it randomly changes your trim settings and is almost impossible to hold an altitude at cruise ± 100ft. Also, I donât know if accurate/ârealisticâ, but the Blackbird 47 has about 5-10 times more inertia than the Miltech. It requires extra special attention to control your heading while near the ground and slow speeds.
Although the Default CH-47D is labeled under the Blackbird name, it presents itself as a Shrike product. Many items are unclickable and inop.
The default Blackbird 47 is also a good addon, but it is no where near as mature as the Miltech CH-47D.
I concur
I plan on doing a video comparison but I have so many in the queue right nowâŠ
It is not my place to enter into comparisons as there is an obvious bias, and I have a great relationship with the Blackbird team, howeverâŠ
The flight model comments (eg. inertia, drifting, necessity for antitorque particularly at low speeds) are exactly the reason why we have refrained from migrating to a fully tandem flight model. Itâs ultimately a design choice - they did a great job modeling the physics of CH47D with the SAS (active stabilization system) off, while we decided to model the FM as if the SAS system was always on by âtaking the alternative routeâ of not using the MSFS Tandem FM.
The âideal solutionâ is one where we could have both - a togglable active stabilization system functioning in conjunction with the tandem rotor flight model. And we continue working towards that goal.
Thatâs all I needed to hear. And the fact that itâs on sale too is the closer. Looking forward to practicing my incredibly terrible helicopter piloting skills with the ChinookâŠ!
âŠif only we could get the replay to show wheels steering and blade coning. Completed deflated me when I realized itâs still not fixed. Makes it look like the âHook was dragging its rear wheels around the corner in the video I posted.
Not entirely sure how the replay tool works or what variables does it track/not track. I need to do some investigating, but I suspect not all animations get recorded.
Does the CH-47 have toe brakes?
Not sure if it doesnât or my mapping needs to be looked at.
It does, likely your controller mapping is not correct. It uses the default Toggle Brakes keybind
This is now being flown more than any other aircraft on my PC. What a blast this thing is!!!
I know what I am flying tonight!
I LOVE the Miltech CH-47! And I cannot wait until the Osprey and sea assets port over to 2024.
Goodbye 2024
What an amazing year - from the CH-47 to the C-17, 2024 has been a year of massive growth for us and great aircraft for our community. We wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you for your continued support, and we promise that 2025 wonât disappoint. Stay tuned for a new product announcement and 2025 Roadmap in the upcoming days
In the meantime, weâd greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete our annual survey.
I just picked up the CH47 Supercarrier Bundle, in the sale.
Does anyone know if the Marketplace version will be receiving a free native upgrade?
Yes it will once Marketplace opens
all products will get free upgrades, as Batterby said, as soon as Marketplace opens.
Does anybody know how this module performs in VR? Iâm very interested in buying it but donât want to if it suffers from poor performance. I have one of the cowansim helicopters and it performs significantly worse in VR than any of my other modules so Iâm a bit concerned that a module as complicated as the Chinook may also suffer from poor VR performance
I canât give you a definitive answer since my graphics card and VR headset may be very different from yours.
What I can say is that Iâve been flying the Miltech Chinook a lot (unlike with the Cowansim helicopters, the PMS50 GTN750 would work in it at full brightness - this was prior to the SU1 beta - handy when the EFB is broken in VR) and didnât see it performing noticeably worse than other aircraft I was flying.
same. My setup is also most likely different. I donât see any difference in performance with the Miltech CH-47 than any other helicopter.
I donât see any difference with any Cowansim helis though, either.
Which helicopter causes you issues?
