[Released on PC and Xbox] DC Designs Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde

Guys, any way to reduce the glareshield lights? They become too intrusive in the night and I am unable to dim it using the knobs on overhead panel.

Three light controls on pilot’s and copilot"s side panels.

Again, all this is in the manual.

Any updates on the implementation of the INS on this plane? I recall the dev saying they would start working on it once xbox got WASM support

Concorde has already had INS support for months. I guess you missed the memo.

It does? I must have missed it too. OP is talking about this…

Note: A true Inertial Navigation System CIVA unit will be added to Concorde
when MSFS supports the WASM gauges required on Xbox. Users will be able to
then choose between the simpler FMC, or the more period-accurate INS,
depending on their personal preference

I don’t think we can use this on xbox yet?

Dont recall being able to use INS on PC either, but saying that its een in the hanger along time now.

Kinda waiting on fslabs

CodenameJack has learned how to do an INS without the use of WASM gauges, so it’s all in the pipeline. I think that mdapol is referring to the fact that some of our other jets already have an INS system added ( such as the CJS Typhoon ).

As soon as the F4 Phantoms launch, which is within a month or so, the majority of my work will be on updates to all existing airplanes, with Concorde being done first.

My apologies, when you say something like “INS mode” I only know of the switch in the cockpit that selects INS vs RAD. And using that switch in the INS position works and has worked since launch. For future reference, rather than use the shorthand term “INS” which could be confusing, please say something like “CIVA system” which is more specific.

Hi Dean. I took the opportunity to ask you if it’s possible to have in the next major update an option (for example a clickable button on the engineer panel) to activate a “realistic” mode with engine damage, like FlyingIron did with the spitfire for example. This way those who want to continue to use the concorde easily can, and at the same time for the real fans, keeping the engines within limits becomes a “real” stake which is not the case atm because no failure will ever occur. Thanks for your answer

That would require a huge amount of work to satisfy only a small segment of the market. The “real fans” of any aircraft in flight simulation are not exclusively fans of greater detail and never have been. Concorde is at the level the majority prefer, sorry.

I understood, definitely can’t argue on the fact that it would be a lot of work for a pair of (very enthousiaste, believe me) users. Anyway I still think that by some ways that something can reasonably be done on the engines because they are actually like unbreakable you know. Well i’m looking forward to the summer update cause it will be super work so thx for the support

Would love any updates on the INS.

Is Dean still around on these forums? I saw on DC’s FB that the Concorde is due for an update at some point and I was wondering what it involves.

From the Facebook wall of August 25:

"This brings me to what will probably be by far the biggest update of all: Concorde. I will be starting work on this within a week or so. The list of tasks is enormous so I won’t share it here, but highlights include; Miltech Solutions, who will be re-texturing the entire cockpit after I’ve completed the modelling; entirely re-working the exterior UV maps for more detail; extra detailing inside and out, using extensive photographic material obtained with the kind help of the Brooklands Museum team; new special effects, including wingtip vortexes at landing and revised wing vapour clouds; the CIVA INS for those who wish to use it, and a lot more. ( The UV updates will mean that add-on liveries, of which I know there are many, will no longer be correct. A pain for artists I know, including myself as my own stock liveries will need re-doing, but the aircraft will look far better for it. )

Sounds fantastic, looking forward to this one!

Hi, is this plane still worth to get in late 2023? I’m on XSX btw.

I can’t answer that because value is in the mind of the purchaser. I can give you an overview.

DC Designs Concorde is a medium systems fidelity and medium graphics quality add-on. It is very accessible with the sim checklist fully supported and sufficiently complete that you can just follow it to get from A to B.

There’s sufficient complexity flying it to make it interesting, and sometimes a challenge, especially the complex fuel transfer system is well modelled. The INS NAV system is missing, instead you get the Asobo A320 Thales unit, but that does make it a lot easier to fly single handed. Remember the real plane had a flight engineer and isn’t really something you can solo if it was study level.

The medium systems and visuals are a bonus for the xbox as it uses less RAM/VRAM than other airliners and in my experience CTD have been infrequent compared to even smaller planes that have glass cockpits.

It’s also important to note that the price is cheap for a reasonable quality airliner. If it was study level then it would be double the cost.

Really the question is do you want to fly Concorde? If you do then it’s an obvious purchase and there is no competition.

There’s no other airliner that cruises over 50,000ft, does long haul flights in the time of a short haul flight without using simrate, and the only one that you can watch the sun unset from the west, which is a fabulous sight. Being a sim you can fly routes that were never allowed IRL, one of my favourites is Sydney to Perth.

DC Designs have stated that they are going to upgrade the systems with INS and also improve the visuals, expected in the next few months (I believe work is under way), so if there’s a sale then there’s never been a better time to pick this up.
