Released: Pyreegue Birmingham EGBB (FS2020/2024)

Possibly the most eagerly-anticipated release of the year.

Yes, he pretty much said that from the start (that it wouldn’t be native, as such). But it does apparently incorporate the walkaround mode (I’ve yet to try).

Two issues so far: much of the perimeter fence is either floating way above, or sunken deep into, the ground; and parts of the interior keep popping in and out as I move around it.

Otherwise, I can assure anyone unfamiliar with the airport that it’s a digital twin. Great work, as always.

It was, to be fair, pretty clear on social media. A semi-native build but compiled with the older SDK. It sure puts Macco’s EGBB in its place!

I deleted my posts as I dont want to give the impression it’s a quick and lazy job and a no buy. On the contrary, it’s having one of the best LOD’s i’ve seen and overall a great airport made. I dont want to be the one to have him sell one or more less. That wasn’t the point of my post.

There is a issue with some floating taxi lights (deleted the other EGBB) so hope this gets solved soon. No idea if the dev visits these forums though.

Objects float if you’re flying around in drone mode too fast, stay there for a while and they’ll come back down. Walkaround mode works well in FS24, I’ve done thorough testing on both platforms.

Memory leaks on your end, reduce TLOD setting. Thanks

So, I just went back to the same spot (501C mark near medium GA parking) didn’t load the sim afterwards until now and no floating lights. I use SU3 beta, forgot to mention that important bit.

LODS are always the same here at 100%

This row was the spot btw..

I had a similar issue with floating taxi lights at Edinburgh which seemed random the first few visits then never had them since. Seems to be a MSFS thing.

Glad to hear that, except for it being some bug in the sim. Never had or noticed the issue before.

The weird part is that they where so close to the ground that i’ve checked the model and the top of the bounding box seems to fit that height (+/- 4 meters).. Maybe something for a bug report to Asobo..

I haven’t found an option to turn off static aircraft. It is certainly quite simple in other Pyreegue airports as there is an options tab. It appears to be missing in EGBB.
Anyone found out how to do this or is it an oversight by the developer?

Nice little easter egg..

Hi. Great airport!
Just reporting:

  1. I also had the floating fences (mainly near the Travel Lodge hotel but noticed it somewhere else too) when walking on foot so I don’t think it’s anything to do with drone camera.
  2. The wall collision boxes are a bit wonky in a few places.
    — a) the fire station, if you try and walk up the stairs inside, it pops you through to the building on the right which is invisible walls inside (not meant to be there) but then you’re stuck inside that shell.
    — b) walking near the stairs on airside of some of the corridors (first floor, centre terminal building stretch) makes your avatar fall out and down to the ground outside. Seems to happen the same way in a few places.

It’s a shame we cannot walk into or see the main front entry but the rest is phenomenal!

I was expecting a very detailed airport from the teaser pictures that have been posted … but after looking around at EGBB in “real FS2024” for about half an hour of drone sightseeing … for my part:

This is by far the most detailed airport that I have see. Wow!

There are so many little details which most likely only few people will ever see. This is serious craftsmanship with stunning love to detail.

For me this EGBB is “the benchmark” for 5 star airports from now on.

With everything set to Ultra I was expecting stutter on my setup, but FPS was surprisingly high and smooth.

Call me a “fan goose” … Mahalo nui loa to the people at Pyreegue

Agreed. An awesome work by Pyreegue, as always. I also recommend getting Newcastle EGNT by RW Profiles, it’s the similar quality. Just breathtaking.

Or indeed the Wetherspoons, where all my IRL trips officially start.

But seriously, I’ve been looking forward to this as soon as the first hint came out in a teaser post, and it really is excellent. The performance for such a level of detail is excellent and it was good to see Inibuilds noting that the bar has been raised by the likes of Pyreegue.

As mhron mentioned, EGNT is also well worth the money and to the same standard.

Just waiting for Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green from Burning Blue now, that really is my home airfield, just a couple of miles away (and Welshpool to come from BB as well).

Yeah, EGPH II had the main front entry with check-in counters modelled but something missing from Brimingham-but hey, not having that makes for nice performance.

Long time since I’ve flown from EFBB but I did hunt for the Wetherspoons and assumed it had become All-Bar-One (which is modelled). My IRL trips always start with a Wetherspoons… be it on the airport, or off!

‘Spoons is still there, I last flew from Brum a couple of months ago.

I must admit I was quite disorientated in the sim interior. I fly out at least twice a year and I have a routine I suppose, but when those ‘landmarks’ aren’t there, it throws me.

So many other nice touches though, that I can overlook this heinous omission.

Patiently waiting (not really) for market place to catch up for Xbox …. 2 weeks
