Not only do I develop my own plane(s). I can make my own posts too  kudos to someone who made one in the mean time. They can come join me like you did. Maybe I should pre-emtively strike with my next two aircraft as well.

  • And yes, I know the gauge glass is too reflective. That was a last minute change and will be fixed.
  • Some liveries have some COMP where they shouldn’t be(very minor, but still noticeable)
  • ADF Swap switch is backwards
  • PAX Light by default is on should be off.
  • But other than a sim limitation with the hydraulics everything works as planned.

Textures are not Caranado, blah blah. One day I’ll get there. Or take the time to go out of my way to make things other than dust and dirt on a plane that you can remove with the click of a button.

I just posted this to make it known the actual developer ~ ME(B4Gunner) AKA Hangar Studios 713 is back in town and this plane will knock your socks off.

Here is some more Eye Candy -

And let’s do some comparison’s to the real Navion’s I used for the liveries who two of the owners have contacted me now and love it!

Next Up Maple (Yes they are kept that clean)-

An Don’t forget the default -

And of course that cover that varies with Liveries Here’s just a few-

Full view of the cockpit during the day at Noon - Clear skies as bright as I can get it

Tablet view -

And much much more!

3 Major options I built directly into the Plane are:
Tip Tanks - You start off with them on and at 50% just like all the other tanks
When removed they empty the tanks in the fuel section, when replaced they are then filled
Window Dividers are removable
Windshield Divider is Removable
The Navions have had these options through the years and I decided to include them all!
And I’m not even going to go into the clickables because there are too many to mention here.

Enjoy!

I thoroughly enjoy flying the Twin and the work you’ve done @B4Gunner! Can’t wait to add this to the hanger. Xbox release soon?

It has been submitted to Marketplace for both PC and Xbox versions, just waiting for approval at this point. Then I can final test it on both platforms before its released. 1.0.1 will follow shortly after with the aforementioned bugs fixed. Thanks for your patience and patronage.

I had noticed in some of the pics that the windows and windshield dividers were missing, and wondered why. The fact that you made them removable is a great touch.
Quite the detailed mod. I may just pick it up when it hits the Marketplace.

Great job, man! I’ve always loved the Navion and this looks like a great tribute to it.

Were I to be honest, I had kinda dialed back my MSFS purchases a bit to see how 2024 pans out.

But this is just too nice to pass up!

Don’t slow down just yet, I have more planned by the end of the year. And I plan on keeping them fully updated with better everything going forward. These Navions will carry through to MSFS 2024 easily. And if they don’t, I’ll make the changes necessary. Hop on over to my Discord if you are interested in whats to come and you can see the step by step process I used to develop the Navion B. I’m all ears for suggestions and I usually take things up within reason  Discord Link- Hangar Studios 713

I’ve had this since a couple of days into the initial retail release, and I’m quite happy with it - at least after I cleaned off the bug splat on the windshield…

It has a little more “bells and whistles” type stuff than I’ll ever use, but for what I do use and what I paid, I still feel like I paid a fair price. Very nice work!

Hey I was looking at some pics of the panel and thought the OBS gauge seemed weird. The markings on the parameter do not span out in equal intervals. It looks as if it is missing 10 degrees between S and 150 as well as N and 330. Maybe just a cosmetic issue? Does the instrument actually have 360 in a round?

Yeah that’s been fixed and will be in 1.0.1

Here is the list so far for fixes -

  • CDI Gauge Face Texture
  • Glass Reflection needs reduced
  • Paint on right Wing COMP Texture has a slight “over paint” on one of the liveries
  • ADF Swap Switch backwards
  • Pax Light ON position from cold and dark should be Off Position -Still only works with Mastery battery on

Known Issues

  • Due to sim limitations the Emergency Gear Hydraulics doesn’t function correctly with the Navion B
The P51 Mustang has a similar system, but the way the hydraulics work with the valve can’t be reproduced in the sim at the moment - There just is no Sim Variable for it yet to function correctly. The way it works as it was explained to me is both Hydraulics have to be turned off including the valve switch. The engine produces hydraulic pressure in the sim, even though I have a separate pump and the valve is just on a circuit nothing more for an additional “pump”. Because of the actual engine valve not being available to turn on/off the manual pump cannot be used. What I would do as a work around would be to “toggle” the valve with the manual pump so that it will allow the gear to come down. Do to this limitation it is there/modeled/and clickable, but it doesn’t function yet as it should unless I find another way for the work around. I could just fake it out and basically make the manual pump another Gear lever That would only function if these conditions are met, but I want it as realistic as possible so it will wait.

Hope that clears it all up - Not too bad for a 1st update compared to my 26 updates on the Camair 480. I’m sure we will find more and I’m definitely a listener as I want all of my products to be the best they can be.

Here is the fixed image - It was the UV that was wrong

Well if Tom likes it I may just have to buy another ■■■■ airplane :smiley:
I do have about 10 hours in a Navion and at one point even considered partnering in that particular one.

Bought her earlier today and took her for a spin. Very pretty airplane, and I haven’t had the chance to wring her out, but a few things I noticed.

EDIT: I took the V-tailed Bonanza up as it was the only other aircraft I had that was similar in class to the Navion. I’ve inserted my edited information in Bold Italics

  1. Defaulting onto the runway, I noticed that the brakes wouldn’t hold the aircraft at more than about 80% power. I know that this is a MSFS wide issue, but it would be nice to run her up and wipe her out without wheel skid.

I can’t say that no GA airplane should be able to overcome its brakes, but these feel a bit weak.

EDIT: Trying again, I think it is possible to hold the brakes at full power, it just takes some finagling.
I think this is MSFS.

  1. With trim as set by initializing on the runway, (about mid as there is no TO trim indication that I see),

the aircraft will rise off its nosewheel well below 40KIAS. I can’t see there being enough nose authority to do this in actuality. It’s quite pronounced.

One “segment” of nose down trim damps this tendency down somewhat. Much more than that makes the aircraft very nose heavy which seems almost excessive. It’s an interesting set of tendencies as though the trim was overly effective and responding to faster speeds than the aircraft is exhibiting.

  1. For some reason the turn coordinator shows an OFF flag even though it’s working. I believe all CBs were in and switches on.

  1. I like that you can read the instruments with the panel lights turned up. But, the appearance of the lighting gives the impression of backlighting, like a modern car, rather than the more subdued bezel or peanut lighting that most, even modern-ish, steam gauge aircraft have. In this shot, the green and amber arcs of the airspeed indicator really light up, as though they were fluorescent as does the amber wings on the artificial horizon.

EDIT: PURELY for comparison and not suggesting in any way that one is better than the other, here’s the Bonanza’s panel at very roughly the same time of day. I only wish to point out the more muted paint colors of the lighted instrument markings.

  1. EDIT: I had some head scratching about throttle response and Manifold Pressure here. Testing it in the Bonanza, it works the same way. It appears that I was incorrect, at least as much as to how the throttle responds in the sim.

  2. I only had time to fly around one livery, and it was quite nice. My only suggestions are that, like the Ercoupe, what I take to be a metallic paint comes across as looking a little more like anodized aluminum. Like a soda can. Whoever did the Ercoupe mod recently actually toned down the…something…value to address this specific issue. Lastly, and it may just be the strong colors, but all the hard work putting in rivet and panel lines kind of disappears unless one is quite close, which makes the aircraft look more composite than paneled. It might look better to enhance them just a bit.

This is all personal opinion however. :grinning:

Lovely lines though…

EDIT: I don’t really have a metallic livery for the Bonanza, but perhaps you can get the idea from this shot. I tried to capture the same light, but didn’t do a very good job of it. I’m just trying to show that there is some quality of the red textures here that seems to capture PAINT rather than colored aluminum.

Again, not better or worse, just different…to my eye anyway.

I’ll also say that it appears any paint in MSFS seems to cover up the rivets and panel lines, so this may just be a MSFSism.

Second Edit: I tried out one of the non-metallic liveries. There is still just a bit of the same effect, but I think it looks MUCH more like paint. Note the panel lines are back and the fuselage casts a reflection on the near wing. These give the paint job much more depth IMO.

I surmise that metallic can be difficult in MSFS

  1. OK, last one. This is the aircraft with full back stick at about walking speed. The aircraft is still likely at over 40% fuel, one 200lb pilot, otherwise as loaded by default.

I had attempted to aerobrake as I touched down at approximately 60KIAS, just applying some backpressure on the stick. When the nose didn’t seem to want to fall as I slowed, I applied more and more backstick to see how high it would let me get with the expectation that I would run out of nose authority at some point and it would fall rapidly to the ground.

Eventually I got down to what was probably less than a knot or two when the aircraft flopped down onto its nosewheel.

So, kind of like takeoff, the wing/tail seems to provide enough lift to rotate the nose at what I would say were abnormally low speeds.

All that said, she’s still a looker and seems to hand fly pretty nicely. I hope you don’t mind me pointing out these issues here as a means of continuing improvement.

I’m afraid that I’m not much of a Discorder; pretty certain that it’s my dinosaur brain.

But I think if the first Human to discover speech had been shown Discord…

…they might have thought the better of it!

I have not yet purchased this plane yet, so, I don’t know exactly what you’re seeing here. But, when I neglect to adjust trim in a Warrior at takeoff, and it’s too “up”, I’ll definitely get the nose lifting off very early, 30 - 40 knots, and the I think right wing lifting early. Very disconcerting, and causes many “darnit Tom!”'s (to self)… The Warrior is definitely a “touch of down trim” plane at takeoff and in the pattern.

Agreed. I love the Navion, but this turned me off on first sight and I decided not to get it that day. I’m starting to feel I should try it out. Especially because I may be able to fix that with some Comp manipulation.

Interesting. It still feels a bit strong for me, but I’ll be very interested in your take on it. The only planes I flew that were about this class were the Seminole and the T-34C.

Some of this may be a sim/peripheral thing as well.

What may just be an inch of forward yoke with almost no pressure required in the aircraft can feel substantially stronger when you’re pushing against your home joystick’s spring centering force.

The landing pitch authority still feels fairly out of whack though, I can’t imagine holding my nose up like that unless I was massively out of CG, and even then…

Incidentally, I’ve edited my post above with a few comparisons to the V-tailed Bonanza, just as a reference, not as a condemnation.

Also,

Nice attention to detail on the, um, details.

Default livery has the standard paint as does it’s color variants. The actual “liveries” of real aircraft are spot on. The luxury is matte black on purpose -and Blue/red Stripe, well they just are. I posted above what the real planes are like with a strong comparison to what my interpretation is. And yes I will definitely have more liveries, might even make one just for whoever. Paint-kit is on its way too, but I had to make some changes with 1.0.1 so the doors aren’t missing in MP it happens sometimes I am noticing and I know why, I set them to the interior LOD, but I fixed that yesterday and it will be in the 1st update.

As far as the color goes with the interior lighting that was just for fun to have something different with the red. I tested all different colors with all different hues from purple to pink, to green and yellow. I stuck with the off/light red and Radium look. In fact you can have the gauge lights with no Radium look. Do this: - left knob full - center knob “0” - Left knob controls the center knob (radium) though so you have to have at least 5% on it(left knob) to make the colored lights show up.

Yes you can tail strike, Is is realistic to hold the nose all the way down the runway? No, not really lol, but has anyone tried that IRL? I’m sure some STOL aircraft do it all the time. For a plane that can takeoff within 400 ft it needs that authority. It can also land in under 900, I wouldn’t suggest pulling back on the nose for longer than its needed. Or you might tail strike which is very possible IRL and then put it on its tail permanently. To ride it down the entire runway until it drops on its own takes some skill - kudos for that, but you can do it if go to take off and don’t take off too or leave the throttle in with no brake and constant back pressure. Needless to say it is one setting and I might dial it back a bit just because you said so.. I think the default is 1.0 and I have it on something like 3.5 on purpose. Maybe 2.5 would be a middle ground for what I’m looking for. I’m waiting on an owner/pilot to give me the low down on that specifically.

Trust me I tested the heck out of this plane myself mostly with input from 10+ testers and two of them own a Navion. But in the final say its me the solo developer. I do appreciate the comments, but like most reviewers if you have questions ask them, don’t tell me them. Sometimes you find out your initial findings are incorrect. Gotta love forums  And no I’m not being snarky this is my humor and I find it amusing.

I love the fact you all took the time to post so much and it gets me excited to work on it a little bit more as this was a fun pane to build from the ground up. I’ll definitely be tweaking it some more and Thank you for the feedback, even with all the edits. I want you all to know I do care about my product and I want it to be the best for everyone! If you are hesitant on pulling the trigger there are now two reviews out for the Navion B I’ll share them next.

Cheers!
