Released: Samscene3D Manchester (UK) City Times

Their first UK city (and hopefully not the last). Looks nicer than the city included with Orbx GB Central but they are actually compatible.

Good to know they play nicely together - that was my first thought.
I’m a big fan of Samscene’s other sceneries, so this is definitely on my radar.

I have Orbx GB Central but also use Skell’s continuously-updated mod (which received a number of additions only a month ago). Probably pushing my luck but I wonder if all three are compatible? To be honest, I think Samscene will have covered everything the mod adds anyway; their pack seems quite comprehensive.

I’m still on xbox, so don’t have access to that unfortunately (although the latest issues with xbox optimisations have got me seriously weighing my options re. PC…)

PC is another level… but that is for a separate debate…

I bought it. Quite disappointing as there’s so much missing, including the Trafford Centre mall, Kellogg factory, Heineken brewery, Chill Factore indoor ski centre, Co-Op Arena… most of which are available in a single freeware mod!

Additionally, some of the landmarks used to replace those of Orbx’s GB Central are actually worse!

Mmm…Thanks for the impressions. I may not be in a rush for this then. I’m currently having a lot of fun exploring the photogrammetry cities in WU17 anyway - it’s a pity Manchester wasn’t among them.

Don’t get me wrong, the centre proper looks great; however there’s been nothing at all added to the Trafford and Salford Quays areas, from what I can see (except the awful Old Trafford replacement stadium, which Orbx did better anyway).

If they can fill out these areas and generally expand the coverage, it will be worthy of a five-star rating. I think SS3D are East Asian so not a bad first attempt at a UK city; but they need to do more research in future.

They do have good history of updating their products, so hopefully this will be no different.

They’ve also made no effort to replace the default sunken bridges in the city. The ‘Modern Cities’ series features custom bridges and they work out at only £4 per city! The basis for another great scenery is here but I am disappointed with the degree of incompleteness.

Hoping samscene goes back to the US after this.

More Canada would be good. We need good renditions of Montreal, Winnipeg and Quebec City. And a lot more of Europe, too!
