[Released] Virtavia B-36H Peacemaker

It appears the B-36 has released for FS2020. Has anyone picked it up? I’m very curious to hear thoughts about it.

AvAngel is pretty reliable about testing Virtavia products on her YT channel, often within a week of release. The overall theme with them is that they have been slowly improving in MSFS with each addon, but are still not considered consistently great quality addons.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for reviews of this as well if/when it makes the jump to FS2024 compatible, as I just don’t see anyone else making a Peacemaker anytime soon so I’m hoping it’s decent.

There is a user manual in the Virtavia website, it looks decent, you can start it from cold & dark and has an AP, I’ll wait for the review too, the aircraft is quite unique.

The model textures from the pictures on their website seem too “perfect” to me. A bit unrealistic, making them look a little sterile? I’m not sure if that’s the exact word I’m looking for, but that’s what comes to mind.

There doesn’t look to be any actual texture, just flat colors laid over the 3D model, like it’s Flight Sim 5.0 or something.

Its not for sale yet on their or partner websites.

It should be on the FS2020 Marketplace by now, that’s the only place it’s being sold AFAIK.

$18 on Marketplace.I understand MS have relaxed their policy on weapons so bombs might be visible if not droppable.

This could be a re-hash of the B36 that Virtavia did for FS 2004 and FSX.

Well, yeah, that’s probably a better way to describe it

Virtavia also did one for FSX that you can still buy. Virtavia - B-36 Peacemaker for FSX-VRT-485

4k textures are mentioned in the description. If its quality is comparable to Hampden I’ll probably get it because its unlikely to be done by anyone else.

Wondered if anyone has yet bought and tried it out?

I guess I could assign the six piston engines to one throttle axis, and four jet engines to another.

There’s no prop levers required according to manual ( just switches) so you could use 2 throttle (3/3) and 2 prop (2/2) on a standard throttle quadrant like the Bravo.

Cool. If I do buy this you can expect to not hear from me for a few months while I map everything in SPAD.

Looks great.I’ve asked Virtavia if its possible to follow a FP by using a NAV1hold AP key assignment - a cheat key essentially - like you can with their Hampden.
Also if bombs are shown in the aircraft.
EDIT: Virtavia confirmed no bombs in the model
(although cannon turrents deployable) and Nav by FP not possible at moment due to MS constraints.

I recently saw this plane at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona, where you can go right up to the plane and kick the tires if you wish. Man, this thing is massive. Might have to think about getting this, but will wait for reviews.

There’s also one at the SAC Museum. Good luck getting it in frame
