[RELEASED] Wilga 35/80 Series | Got Friends

Engine Realism needs to be on else you can start without air. Also, the Autostart and Start keybinds will always start the engine.

I see you in the sim right now!

I always keep realism on. However I do use the starter switch on my honeycomb alpha. Is that the culprit?

Yes it is. The start switch will simply do “the MSFS thing” and start the engine. The Wilga’s compressed air start is not natively supported in MSFS (it is too rare, I understand) so the code for that only kicks in if you work the cockpit by interacting with the start switch in there.

Hehe…just testing our new update for the Wilga

Ok good to know. Any way to force the switch on the alpha and other controllers to not start the wilga, thereby forcing ppl like me to use the button on the panel? Not a high priority I’ll admit.

Not until MSFS has official support for oxygen starts. Wouldn’t hold my breath for that one (pun quite intended :face_with_hand_over_mouth: )

Lol I won’t hold my breath for that one.

See what I did there?

Edit - you beat me to it lol

Haha nice! Yes as I was editing my post for the pun you did the exact same thing. Way to go!

Are there variables we can target with spad.next by chance? I’m pretty new to that stuff, but on some aircraft we can target the specific variable with a control.

I can’t figure out how to get these 2 working
Version 1.02

Coffman cartridge starters where introduced to Spitfires, on the MKII’s along withe the Merlin XII.

. Built the Tamyia 48 scale kit as one last year.

“ Chief among the changes was the upgraded 1,175 horsepower (876 kW) Merlin XII engine. This engine included a Coffman engine starter, instead of the electric system of earlier and some later versions of the Merlin, and it required a small “teardrop” blister on the forward starboard cowling.”

Ah, you’re right - the MK I required the external battery (or “accumulator trolley”). Knew that back in my A2A Spitfire days but had forgotten what order they appeared in. Thanks for the detail and the reference!

Also these other instruments seem not to work
Battery is on i guess

Mhh, funny… my Amperemeter shows this

You’re drawing more amps then are being supplied (especially the Wilga’s Pitot and Landing Light are very hungry devices). Is your generator in operation? (if not the generator warning light will be on).
The generator only kicks at 1,100 RPM, so not when idling on the runway for example.

To limit power draw I make sure to disable the fuel pump once I have sufficient RPM and therefor fuel pressure (and am not flying too high), disable Pitot during taxi ops (generator won’t work yet) unless I really need the heater, and switch off Spark Shower (only use to start the engine). Just to name a few. You have a lot of options in the Wilga to manage your electrical systems. All are simulated to great detail so even your smallest actions matter.
