[Released] Wing42 Boeing 247D

Just stubbornness on my part, quite often I only do cold and dark once with an aircraft, just to do it, and then spawn on the runway just to enjoy the flying.
But it is my intention to get that once.

Interesting! I have heard of people who do it this way and I understand why people like to do it (flying is the fun part right?). But I think I start all my planes cold & dark at least 99% of the time xD
I just like getting into the “office” and flicking all the switches, getting the engines running, doing the flows. But we all have different interests
I don’t know if doing a runway start in the 247 is ideal though, I have never actually tried.

I’ve only been in the sim 7 months and I can see the way I do things changing all the time. A couple of months back it was spawn on runway 100% of the time. Now I’ve started an interest in cold and dark.
It’s a game that seems to constantly evolve for me, I don’t know where my interest will be in 2 months - maybe cold and dark for all flights…..maybe Vatsim etc.,
One of the beauties of the game is it’s like Alice’s ‘Rabbit Hole.’

Fired ‘em up. The only thing that worked was turning ‘off’ the realistic engine start.
Tried everything else first, I cycled all the buttons and levers, primed 6 times, throttle 25%, wait until 30% before mesh….none worked.

However, very satisfying, fired it up, now time to fly. Might even fire it up each time I fly it - a little more of my ‘sim’ evolution happening.

Absolutely, down the rabbit hole you go! There really isn’t any “wrong” way of using the simulator contrary to many people’s opinion.
The beauty of this platform is that we get to make out of it what we want! Flight simulation is a journey without an end.

Glad to hear that you got it going. When you decide to go back to the realistic engine start, just try opening the throttle to 40%. I know it sounds strange and unrealistic but it is worth a shot to see if this will do it for you. The 247 definitely has some quirks that push you outside the bounds of realism at times but it is a romantically fun aircraft for sure.

The only other game I’ve played with this level of personal fascination was ‘Breath of the Wild,’ - another open world adventure where you could go anywhere.

I still think Breath of the Wild is worth buying the Nintendo (£257) solely for that game. I apparently put 700 hours into it. (About 43p/hour.).

Gotta divide my time now between MSFS and the sequel to Breath of the Wild. Just as well I’m retired.

Next thing you know, you’ll start researching all the aircraft you fly, and realize you can download the POH’s and other material, and, before you know it, you’ll start collecting them and reading them, and…

Just to kick that off… Here’s a couple of sites I go to for downloading stuff…, and then, if it’s not there, Google is my friend

Or, they seem to reorganize every so often, plus there’s more material throughout the site…

Oops, already do the research bit.
Wing 42 Bleriot: first flight across channel and first Alps crossing.
Flew the Gee Bee: built purely for racing, flown by Dr Doolittle himself…..
Better stop, getting embarrassing.

Didn’t take me long, I’m starting to enjoy the cold and dark starts and now starting from that state more often.

This is a little bit off-topic, but after trying out the Ford Tri Motor from Aeroplane Haven I just realised how monumentally better this aircraft is even though it hasn’t recieved a single update!
It’s not even like this plane is much more expensive than the Tri Motor will be once it stops being free…
I was excited to do some classic Tri Motor flights, but now I think I rather do a cross country journey in the 247 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m the same after trying the Stratoliner. Jumped back into the 247 and was like, that’s more like it.

And another seemingly good aircraft that the Xbox ain’t gonna see…:downcast_face_with_sweat:

Looks like Wing 42 website is down for good or at least hacked. Does anyone here know what happened to Otmar?

No one knows.

The Bleriot and the 247D are still in the marketplace. Interesting.

[edit: and I just downloaded a 247D from a link on an old email, so that still works at least.]

Just be careful … if the website was hacked and the content delivery is connected to that, chances are that nefarious people will try to introduce malware on your system with the aircraft download.

I certainly wouldn’t visit that website anymore, not even out of curiosity, unless you are using a sandbox system.

I’m actually happy now that I got it through the marketplace giving the state of things. At least the aircraft works exactly the same as it always has when you get it installed

Is it not odd that the dev has been missing for a long time now but the aircraft is still available on the MP?

So either Asobo/MS is collecting the full revenue for it or someone is still getting paid. Not expecting anyone here to know but it is interesting to wonder where the money goes. I suppose that there is a clause in the MP contract that any abandonment by the developers would mean that all revenue defaults to Asobo but it would be interesting to hear from them on what happened with this one.
