[Released] Wing42 Boeing 247D

So, is Wing42 dead or not?

Could we port the Goose engine sounds to the B247?

Yeah I think it’s dead

Don’t get me wrong, I love the 247 despite it’s shortcomings but it’s only the fan boys keeping it alive, the developer has disappeared pretty much soon after it was released :man_shrugging:

It is doable.

The problem is you cannot replace just one sound, you need to replace the whole sound package. It would me more practical write in Wwise new sounds from scratch and add those sounds in an additional package.

I imagine is a lot of work to redo the sound package. Which involves implementing the original one first and then add new sounds and events for the missing/bugged parts.

Sad news indeed but not unexpected. I was really looking forward to the Vega, as well as fixing the oil problems with the 247

Hi all,

Today I managed to create a Wwise soundpack that works alongside with the main one (it took me almost a week to understand how to name events in the additional package so the fs will read it as well as the main). Now is when the fun will begin.

I have to learn how use all the potential this software has. But this is good news. That means you can create a soundbank that does not replace the original one but complements it. First thing is going to be the clock and move all the Wave sounds i used to the soundbank.

Very nicely done.

There is something else: Trims and oil shutters require very small movements (mouse control) to have the desired effect. That is a pain.
I wonder if this can be fixed or someone can do it.

I have been doing a bit yesterday (thanks to a sciatica that keeps me at home) and every step feel like a new challenge. There eres a couple of errors on the templates code for the behaviours of three stage keys (like the primer selector) that stop the sounds to play correctly. I fixed them. Also, I had to replace some of the files because in the original xml they refer to inexistent soundfiles. I spent like 5 hours just to do the primer (now all the interactions have sounds) but I do not like how they sound. I do not have access to a good sound library, so I have to work with what I got. I will try to fix them with the Wwise options. Any advises to find a good repository of plane sounds?

I guess now I am already learning this Wwise malarky I will go faster. Next step is implement sounds for all type of surface touchdown and add some logic of volume depending on the vertical speed and so on.

I was looking at how to replace the engine sound. It is a mamoth task, and on top of it you need to have a good set of sound files to work with. If I try to replace them, it will be the last task of all.

There are a huge number of aircraft fitted with the Pratt and Whitney R-1349 Wasp radial. There are even some like the De Haviland Canada DHC-3 Otter that used the same Wasp variant, the R-1340-S1H1-G.

This dude is still nowhere to be found?

I like to think he’s on a yacht somewhere rolling in 247D money - it’s better than the alternatives.

Would love to try this sound mod once completed, I really dislike the current sounds (I wonder if you could fix the missing flywheel sound on the right engine this way!). Looking forward to see what you come up with!

If it only was that lucrative I’d have quit my job and started developing aircraft for MSFS already

A good place to start is www.sim-outhouse.com
Good forums there, too, and lots of developers.

For developer questions, there’s of course devsupport.flightsimulator.com
and www.fsdeveloper.com as well as www.scenerydesign.org

The missing flywheel is already fixed in the current version of the mod. Try it.
