[Released] Wing42 Boeing 247D

Can anyone help on how to install this. I generally don’t use third party stuff and I DL the file, the ran the application which installed it on my C: in a random “fsdata” folder.

I use MSFS in with steam so isn’t exactly obvious where these files are supposed to go and the documentation didn’t seem to explain this anywhere.

Thank you! I’ve been clicking on the lower strip on the dashboard until I wore the leather piping off. (And also developed a blister on my finger  About as real as it gets.)

Any comparison of T&P between flights / users are only relevant if the aircraft weight is similar and that the weather is similar.

The folder “wing42-…” has to go into your community folder.

I’ve seen a few videos on this now, and it looks epic. Especially also considering the very reasonable price. I’m probably ■■■■■■ into the wind by wanting this haha, but I hope this comes out on the Series X at some point.

Otmar has said before he would like to bring it to Xbox, but it uses WASM for custom coded stuff so it can only happen once Asobo/MS has sorted that problem out.

I don’t see a solution to that particular conundrum coming soon. Unfortunately.

Btw. anyone has got some historical routes this aircraft used to fly?

The only one I have found was this:
United’s “Main Line” Mid-Continent Airway

There’s whole load of 'em here:

All 3rd party addons go into your Community folder. Where that is depends on where you installed MSFS. I also use Steam, and when I installed the sim, I had it installed under D:\MSFS, so it’s super easy to get to. If you used the default installation path, it can be a bit more complicated. Why? I have no idea…

Not necessarily. By default they do, but some folks like me use an Addon Manager that allows us to categorize things into a folder structure rather than the free-for-all of the Community folder

Did you set fuel levels on the kneeboard? I had to set that (again) to finally get the right engine started.

I was not aware of this site, thanks!
It takes some searching but there are indeed some :+1:

There is a known issue with state saving. Try switch all mags, fuel etc off and then on again.

If you do get it started make sure to shutdown fully and switch everything off before logging out.

Thanks, but I’ve been watching LVARS in developer mode, so I know everything is set properly.

I have created a cold state / pre flight checklist to help with the state issues,

Park break - set
Master Battery - off (pulled all the way)
Lights - all off
Magnetos - off
Primer Master Valve - off
Primer Engine Selector - Middle
Tank selector dial - off
Engine Distribution Dial - off
Propeller level - full back
Mixture - Cut off
Landing gear - Lowered
Fuse Box - Replace / add missing
Fuse Box - Add spares
All trims - Neutral position
Clipboard - checks
Check Fuel
Check Oil Type
Check Oil Level (this plane chews through oil)
Uncheck then check back the realism options

Got more successful starts after following this.

I really get the suspicion that the oil temp indicator is showing °C and not °F.

Wouldn’t that be pretty obvious when sitting cold and dark? The oil temp cold and dark should be whatever OAT is.

Managed a 2.5 hour flight today, while keeping both engines alive. Progress  I love this bird, and I love that there’s consequences to messing up.

Now I only need to find out how to keep oil use lower. 2 gallons of oil per engine per hour seems excessive. Probably something I’m doing wrong

after the flight;

Unless, like many thermistors, there’s a lower-range to the scale at which it can measure. It also SHOULDN’T show any value at all unless some current is flowing through it. I don’t know if the Win42 simulation is that detailed, however.
