how about making you log in with a password every time you load the game? only takes 2 seconds.. whats the big deal?

last time I checked on my HW, it takes:
30 seconds from double clicking the icon to actually seeing any screen whatsoever
38 seconds of animated logos before you get the PRESS ANY KEY screen
58 seconds after pressing a key to get to the main menu ( and that seemed fast )
Itâd be nice not to have to sit through 30 seconds of logos, but much nicer just to launch the game, walk away, do something else for a few minutes - and come back to the main menu loaded.
Well, since we all know itâs a lengthy loadtime to get the game working, it just means that weâre having to actually be present as the commercials roll by untill the âANYâ key has to be hit⊠Iâd rather just walk away as the game fires up to grab a cup of coffee, but no⊠one has to be present to press the key to get the game to load further towards the actual startup of the flightâŠ
And yes, it would be awsome that, as soon as you hit forum from the main page, the âPress Any Keyâ would pop up, before one is allowed into the forum as a well placed Pun to the first 2 months of flightsim. Would beat the hell out of the âCookieâ-popouts from other websites.

Steiny
In my opinion it is not much a problem of preventing one to do something else because you have to stay in front of the computer in order to press a key. It is more about it is taking already enough time doing nothing than waiting until the message, then it takes again so much time before the simulator is ready.
In the end you get the feeling you have to be in front the computer and pressing the key ASAP because it is the only way to lessen the waiting time. In other words, it is the feeling if youâre not there at the right time and press the key ASAP, youâll further loose more time on top of the pre-message and post-message long loading times.
This is source of frustration because we usually have something else to do than passively waiting for 2 minutes or more until we can be interacting with the simulator, and we usually donât like very much loosing time for nothing I guess.
Conversely, if the âPress a keyâ message was not in the middle of the loading sequence, but at the end right before the simulator is presenting the tiles, Iâm certain this would be causing almost no frustration at all.
There already are a multitude of threads and posts that answer your question. So hereâs a question for you: what are the advantages of having to press a key?
Please make a list.
In view of some of the posts that can be read in this forum, I could agree with the proposal of removing the âPress any Keyâ message in the game and moving it here for the forums provided that it replaces the âReplyâ key in the reply box. It would then be helpful if the key did not work or only sometimes worked. ![]()
A further condition however is that the stupid âValidateâ key is also added and needs to be pressed if the âPress any keyâ works. That would forces some posters to reconsider the content of their post. The âCancelâ key does not seem suficient.
Perhaps the addition of a âRantâ key would also be helpful if the rant post just disappeard into thin air instead of being published. Good for getting rid of stress without generating thousand of rants.

They already said in the last dev interview that it was trivial to remove and theyâd pulled it out in the dev version.
How is it considerate to make players babysit the computer, just to press a button and wait another 1-2 minutes? This is just loading the main menus - do you need to do some sort of mental preparation before you face the main menu? ![]()
The âFLY NOWâ button in game is a courtesy - allows you to choose when youâre ready to fly, if youâve walked away during load. Itâs just silly for the menus.
This has never been a usability feature. It is done on consoles to determine which controller is âPlayer 1â. This is not necessary in this game on the PC.
After a period of waiting, it should not be necessary to indicate that one is ready to wait even longer.
Asobo themselves use a version without that feature.
If the button prompt was implemented after loading, with the main menu coming up right after the button press, people probably wouldnât even complain. Or if it was implemented the way you assume further up ("I belive the Devs stated that the loading process continues and is not waiting for you to press any button). Alas, it is not.
It Would be nice to change the shortcut on the desktop to the msfs one. But Iâm not getting it.
Any tips?
Drag and Drop from Win 10 Start Menu Tiles. Right click to add shortcut doesnât work, but drag and drop does.
Itâs so easy - itâs hard ![]()
I mean to the HS shortcut, I canât change it to the msfs icon.
ah, sorry - IDK where the icon file lives⊠you could just make your own and take a screengrab of the start menu tile, then create an icon from that and add it⊠but thatâs not really answering your question ![]()
Oh my word. I cannot believe that people are actually this upset by the âpress any keyâ. If you are so concerned about the time you that is stolen from you with this, you probably shouldnât be playing a sim that takes a minimum of an hour for a short hop flight.
Fire up the sim, stare at My. Fuji for a minute or so, press any flippin key, and plan your flight while the rest of the sim loadsâŠ
But which is it? Gain or loss?
And think of the time being wasted by the people complain in this thread and the other duplicate threads. Most votes by some margin on the wish list just tells Asobo that they shouldnât take very much of this forum seriously. I think it does everyone views a disservice
Depends on the roll of the dice.
This thread isnât nearly as useless as the âdonât make any new scenery until you fix all the âflyingâ bugsâ one. ![]()
Actually this thread started as a joke about the Press Key situation and got turned into a discussion . ![]()
the roadmap says they have fixed this. did they remove it or is it still going to be there? its a simple fix
