Removing Meigs from MSFS

Is there a way to remove Meigs from MSFS. For those of you who miss the field and want to fly out of it, more power to you I hope you enjoy it. I would like a realistic sim with realistic scenery with accurate up to day scenery. I could not find an option in the marketplace to remove this content. Any suggestions?

Thankfully you can delete this (and Kai Tak) via the Content Manager.

On Xbox we cant uninstall them, hope they bring in an option to do this for those of us that prefer realism, Sure sometimes I want to use them for nostalgic reasons but being a real life retired pilot I most of the time go for as much realism as possible that includes the earth being as current as possible

Are you saying the Meigs Field in the game has scenery from 40 years ago?

Unfortunately yes.

wow. will have to check it out then. What differences did you notice? Like some buildings were missing etc?

Well, there are airports where there shoudn’t be airports in both Chicago and Hong Kong.

I presumed these airports would only be available in conjunction with the new activities / missions, not that they would be in the ‘real world’ too.

This isn’t Asobo’s finest moment but at least pc users can correct their mistake.

Meigs Field and Kai Tak no longer exists nowadays.
In Chicago they built a park where ove was an airport, in Hongkong they built a Ship Terminal and Convention Center.

Unfortunately for you, there are those in this world who realise that this is a flight simulator and not the real world.
A simulator allows the user to do things that cannot be done in the real world and to reminisce and also relive things from the past that were noteworthy.
Kai Tak was noteworthy for its circuitous approach and Meigs was the default airport for several simulator versions.
The inclusion of these two closed airports is far away from being a mistake and will bring pleasure to many, although, clearly not to you

you are absolutely correlct. A Flightsimulator should ALLOW this.
But as it is right niw, Pilots on XBox are not allowed to fly the current world anymore bur FORCED to the nostalgic world with Meigs and KaiTak being active.

It is great they include these 2 airports, but it should have been done as optional, free downloads from marketplacer instead of a mandatory “update”

For PC, this is no issue. We can uninstall them through content manager. But console seems to be forced instead of allowed

Having no knowledge of or interest in an Xbox, I can see that the inability to remove a part of the game might be inconvenient, but I can also see that two tiny areas of scenery that do not reflect the current real world might be a small price to pay for running the simulator on a cheap and cheerful but closed system.

No, it isn’t a “price to pay” for Xbox because it’s not due to any system limitation.

why did you make this fictional airport then?

If you don’t want to fly at Meigs Field then don’t go there. The world is quite a big place, choose somewhere else. Simple.

I do not mind these airports but I do dislike comments about x box being cheap and cheerful,we cannot all afford 4090s.

I bought the Redwing Hong Kong last year. It doesn’t line up with the new default version so I used Content Manager to delete it. It’s still in the Content Manager but not installed. I just noticed minor details like touchdown zones and two sets of arrows leading to the threshold (and the Concorde is missing). Is it possible to delete the new 40th anniversary versions (Miegs and HK) through Content Manager and re-install them at will?

PC version yes, XBox version apparently not.

I wonder when MSFS will include a time machine capability to go back and forwards using older or newer satellite imagery and photogrammetry. (Google Earth has this.) One should be able to fly over Ukrainian cities before and after the Russian invasion. I don’t expect up-to-the-minute imagery for the obvious security reasons, but one should be able to see the extent of damage to cities like Kharkiv and Mariupol. It’s probably a big challenge for Blackshark to render destroyed buildings appropriately.

Exactly it has nothing to do with limitation of the system because for many other packs we can choose also what to install and what to uninstall. It makes zero sense why they decided to pack it all in 1 big pack for Xbox while previously they didn’t and let you choose what to remove like with all previous updates.

Bring on the “golden oldies” historic airports. I love them. Yes, sure, they need to be optional. Cheers.
