Is there a performance gain in running MFS Full Screen Resolution X and Rendering Scale (Rendering Resolution X) which coincidentally is the same as the recommended screen display resolution X?
I run full-screen resolution and render scaling at 120. I find that fine detail in the distance is more consistent and less likely to appear and disappear (like rivers acting like hoards of worms crawling across the screen) with these and yet the frame rate stays high.
Render scale 100 is the default, which means render resolution = full screen resolution.
Higher render scale will give slightly sharper graphics and less jagged lines, but it’s very performance heavy, especially at 4K. With render scaling 200 you’re rendering the game at 8K!
Lower than 100 will render at a lower resolution and upscale, which is good if you need extra performance. I’ve heard people with 4K screens say that 80 looks very similar to 100, and 80 is decent even on my 1440p screen. But as I’m extremely CPU limited in this game (Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3080 at 1440p) I run render scaling at 130+.
