Repaints and Marketplace (XBox)

There are some really great repaints out there from screen shots I’ve seen for the aircraft accessible to those of us on XBox and, therefore, limited to the Marketplace for adding content. However, there seems to be very few repaints available through Marketplace - payware or freeware. I’ve purchased one set of liveries for the 320neo. I’d love to add new liveries to the Ju52 and FI Spitfire for instance.

Speaking just for myself, I don’t mind paying a little to add a desired livery to a favoured aircraft. I know that many give their talents away when it comes to new paint schemes which has always been one of the wonderful things about the community.

I have no idea what’s involved to get something into the Marketplace but I could see paying a little for the extra effort someone would need to go through to make their freeware repaint available through Marketplace. I recognize this flies in the face of freeware and I’m really not trying to create a controversy about that. It does look like some things can be distributed for free through Marketplace but I’m also trying to be sensitive to the extra effort that might require for the developer.

I’m just wondering if more repaints could be made available to those of us who are on the closed system? I know this might be a big ask but thanks for thinking about it.

(PS. Just to preempt the inevitable “switch to a PC” advise - I used a PC for flight simming for many years and am thoroughly enjoying the simplicity and performance I’m getting from the XBox. So I’m not too keen to go back even if it means living with the limitations of the closed system. I think in time more and more will go this route. I could be completely wrong and only time will tell.)

I think what happens is the developer for example 4simmers submits their product to MS then it gets put into a queuing system from what I can gather then its just a waiting game before they decide to release it

They have to run the add-on through their certification process to ensure it conforms to the standards set for compatibility and security.

This, unfortunately, takes time and there has been a backlog, at times.
