Today a fresh install of MSFS2024 after the release of SU2, I have also very powerful CPU+GPU.
I also receive regulary during flights this annoying and, for me, not valid warning.
How to get rid of it…I looked in all possible settings, nothing found sofar.
It’s annoying as hell, flying Fenix A320, LOD 150 and all ultra preset with a 9070XT at 1080P, it kept popping up the same issue, while the GPU have 16GB V ram somehow it only allocates 13GB or so even if it’s the only game running… and with FPS >50 during the message popping up, please make an option to disable the stupid message
I feel ya. Fenix has got 4K/8K liveries + texture resolution and terrain pre chaching at ULTRA. All three are gonna kill your VRAM. I have them at medium and using 2K Fenix liveries. Running at 1440p.
I know, shouldn’t be necessary, but that’s the current state of the sim. And for me the only way to run the sim smoothly without stutters.
Thing is, with all those settings I don’t get stutters.. only that message…
Yeah, that’s definitely frustrating. Do you have Raytracing on? I can’t use it. That’s the biggest VRAM killer. Oh, and I forgot. Re-Bar is disabled. Saves almost 1GB of VRAM.
I have my settings mostly at high. Except for the volumetric clouds - it’s on ULTRA. Traffic, ATC and Real-Time traffic, motion blur are off. TLOD =125, OLOD=100. Some on low. I use FSLTL and BATC. 1080p and 1440p are pretty similar on GPU impact as far I know. You should be fine with a 9070XT with 16GB VRAM.
I have a 4070 Super with 12GBVRAM. 9800X3D and 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM. That said, 12GB VRAM is supposedly ideal specs at 4K. Just a sidenote
. Not even asking for that. Just smooth and stutter free at high end settings. Whithout too much compromises and tweaks. Hope we’ll get there soon.
This new SIM update 2 seems to be requiring much more memory than before. I did nothing, just upgraded the Sim! The problem is not only this note, the memory consumption is, indeed, much greater than before, for the same plane and airport. I have already downgraded very graphic settings, and it is disappointed have to live with a lower definition scenery than I was used to.
I had raytracing on as the shadows definitely looked better, will have a try to set it off. Right now I have everything in High (colud, trees and raymarch reflections at ultra), LOD 150, 1080P TAA render 130, FSLTL and somehow at busy airports it keeps bumping the stupid message on, especially when switch views.
I will try use no raytracing to have a try. Originally turned it on as it looked a bit better, and that there are no percievable FPS impact (didn’t notice the ram usage though).
Getting this message heaps with a Lenovo Legion 5 Intel Core i9-14900HX laptop with RTX 4060 8GB and 32 GB RAM when using NVIDIA’s recommended settings in the NVIDIA App.
I seem to get CTD near any major city. I flew Juneau to Anchorage and then Melbourne FL to Daytona in PMDG 777 with no crashes. But when I tried to go from Daytona to Orlando I got CTD 10 miles from KMCO. I reloaded MS2024 and tried a fight from KSFO and got immediate CTD on opening screen. I had 15 US airports streaming and 12 more in Community Folder. I disables all airports in Library and deleted community folder airports. I deleted the rolling cache and sim objects and scenery folders and I can’t load any airport that I once had streaming or in community. It will CTD every time. What do you all think. 13900k CPU, 4090 card, latest nvidia drivers and updated BIOS.
Asobo - fix your faulty game -
Check your graphics card temperature for overheating and shutting down.
I have had CTD multiple times. In my case the AsoboReport - Crash-******.txt always has the line Msg=“GPU Device Removed”.
I have tried all the reinstalls of nVidea drivers, MSFS 2024 and Steam - Always broke.
I then decided to watch the temperature of my graphics card - ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Ti GAMING OC 11G.
Monitoring was done by installing HWiNFO - selected the Sensors display and then started MSFS 2024. The temperature just climbed, 70°C, 80°C, 87°C and CTD!!! This was repeatable.
So with confirmation that the graphics card was overheating, causing it to protect itself, it became obvious that the AsoboReport states “GPU Device Removed”.
Reading up on nVidea graphics card overheating it becomes obvious that 1) the fans are not running as fast as needed, 2) the card is full of dust, or 3) the thermal paste is possibly not sufficient.
So, my card is still dust free. Next the fans not running fast enough.
MSI Afterburner is often recommended to fine tune a graphics card, so I installed it, set it up and sure enough the cooling was now controlled. Watching HWiNFO the temperature stayed around 82°C, close but under the maximum. MSFS 2024 finally ran, and ran and ran.
Final step was to disassemble the graphics card. I am well out of warranty, so checked on line, did not fined my card but the general process of removing screws (6 on mine - 15 plus on some others) and disconnecting any cables.
This revealed that there was little thermal paste and it did not cover the entire chip. I cleaned off the remainder and as I had Arctic thermal paste to hand I ensured a full coverage on the chip.
Once back in the box, the temperatures were lower still, 70°C to 80°C. Today I ran MSFS for 4 hours with no hiccup.
Yippee!!
Oh, and Support are correct IMHO that it is an nVidea not MSFS issue. Other will find different solutions, but check your graphis card for overheating.
Hello
Same message but my card works fine, and I get 40-50 fps, as a lot of you, here.
Rather than looking for another setting without knowing the values that generate this message, wouldn’t there be another hypothesis: is it not a bug?
Good question. I don’t have this issue but has anyone submitted a bug report?
Any news on how to avoid that this ‘stupid’ message displays on the screen so regulary despite having a very powerful state-of-the-art PC with 64GB RAM and GPU with 16GB VRAM ???
This is indeed quite annoying. Ruins everything on landing and doesn’t do any good. Even when there isn’t any stuttering. Should at least be inhibited on landing like in the Airbus
.
I get this message all the time, but everything is fine on 60 fps. no CTDs. Please make it configurable whether we want to get this message or not. It is even making a sound. All the time. Stop it. Please
Does Asobo take into consideration the interference with video recording?
I know there is not enough memory. But MSFS2024 is running.
I’m heavily CPU limited but smooth performance at between 70 and 110 FPS and have this message. Talk about dumb.
Yeah, HWMonitor shows my CPU temps in the high 70’s, GPU in the high 60’s. No stutters, everything running perfectly, and yet that message will pop up occasionally. I don’t see anything wrong so theres nothing to fix. I just ignore it and it goes away.
Issue still present in SU3 beta 12.
What is Asobo doing? ![]()
Does anyone know if this is a hardware or software issue ( by Asobo/msfs24)?
I have recently bought a new system with the specs:
AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
NVIDIA GeForce RTX5080, 16GB (MSI Gaming TRIO)
64GB RAM (2x32)
Windows 11
I think this is a very solid system. I 've actually only bought it for MSFS24; I was looking to run with maximum graphics and performance, and my current specs are above Microsoft’s “ideal requirements”.
However, I sometimes experience extreme stuttering and get the same message “Resource Usage Exceeds GPU. Reduce your graphics settings for better performance”. I get the stuttering and message both at Asobo New York JFK and on Flightbeam San Francisco and more. Mostly at major airports. No matter which airplane I use (Fenix A320 or Inibuilds A330…).
I am very frustrated by this situation and am considering returning my new system. I’m just not sure if this is a hardware or software problem. I’m not an expert when it comes to the hardware either…
