Reverse engine thrust

Okay, likely a simple question…

Why do the engines of the A320 go to reverse thrust? I try advancing increasing thrust both through the keyboard and joystick assigned means, but if I get to a lower thrust (such as to taxi), it reverts to reverse.

Because A320 has full thrust range where the IDLE is at the middle of this range. this means 0-20% is technically the reverse zone, while 20% is the IDLE. And anything above that is forward thrust.

So if you put decrease thrust to a keyboard binding, when you hit the IDLE and keep pressing the decrease thrust, it will go into reverse. So you need one binding that would bring you to idle.

If you’re on joystick, it’s better to use the Throttle Axis so you have full analog control over the power.

Ah ha! I was able to figure out some of it prior to your reply, but it makes sense now … especially that IDLE is at 20% (who’d thunk that?). I was able to assign a keyboard “binding” that I could keep in memory for when I land.

I successfully flew from Manila to El Nido with a rather successful landing … except the runway was about 1k feet too short. Needed the ATR42 that actually flies in there.

If you want to make use of your throttles idle/reverse transition, you need to bind to the correct axis, which should have the “0 - 100%” in its name. You then need to identify the point that your throttle rests at Idle, and adjust the sensitivity setting for Neutral to match that.

The slope you see on screen is messed up on that it appears at the top right for some reason, but it does work. No button presses necessary then.
