DETAIL
Owning SLH’s last three airports, I had very high expectations for TFFJ; and I’m over the moon to report that it has exceeded those expectations. If you need further convincing that SLH’s place among the very top developers is justified, you ought to take a look at this airport…
I don’t really need to write a dissertation here — St. Barts is brimming with high-res detail, from the custom… everything, to the many smooth animations that really bring this scenery to life like no other. The terminal looks absolutely fantastic, inside and out, and the weathering effects are good as anything else I’ve seen in 2025. The ground markings are excellent across the board, the terminal landside is fully modelled (and I mean, FULLY) and the dev has included a fair smattering of surrounding detail (finished to the same high standard as the main areas of focus for pilots).
Night-lighting is fantastic — in my last review I highlighted how a couple of devs (namely, SiamFlight and Marcus Nyberg) have this department nailed, and you can now confidently add SLH to that very exclusive list. The only thing that takes a bit of the shine away from the night-lighting is the presence of a few Asobo globes landside, near the runway 28 threshold, but they’re not going to be readily noticed during regular ops.
PERFORMANCE
For a few minutes, I thought I had perhaps stumbled across the first perfect MSFS airport — alas, the high-res detail at every turn does cause the odd stutter, even on my high-end machine. It’s not really a problem for me as the stutters are occasional, however I wouldn’t feel confident running this scenery on anything less than the top hardware. I guess extreme detail always has a price…
VERDICT
If you want possibly the best-detailed airport currently available for FS2024, SLH’s TFFJ is your best bet. The insane detail, numerous extremely convincing animations and the implementation of full walkaround mode (save for a few kerbs your avatar slightly sinks into) make this product stand out for innovation. Sure, you could argue that more detail can always be crammed into smaller airports but there’s nothing on the market quite like this.
Is it perfect? Not quite — some of the animated vehicles stray slightly from the roads, and the aforementioned Asobo globes are a little disappointing — but hey, no one’s found a perfect MSFS airport yet, right? There’s also the performance issue, although it’s certainly tolerable with high-end hardware.
So, should you buy it? 200%, YES! Even if you’ve little interest in flying Islanders/Caravans around the Antilles. This is the kind of airport that’s going to make you want to fly in this area of the world, because arriving and departing is such a visual treat, in every way. The amount of detail is, as already mentioned, super-impressive, and the fact that much of it is animated just elevates immersion to a whole new level. But allow me to stress one final time: please make sure your system is capable of running such a complex add-on, because expecting outdated hardware to run TFFJ is going to end in disappointment.
Finally, for anyone who’s read this far without falling asleep, I have a very good discount code for use on SLH’s own store (covers all products, including St. Barts). Please PM me, and bear in mind you can transfer SLH products to other stores.
