REX AccuSeason Advanced Edition: New Version Released Today!

I’m still trying to figure out how to get the free upgrade via Just Flight. Looks like I don’t “own” it there and I gotta pay again.

You can get it in their discord:

Or if you don’t like that here is a direct link. https://1461888030.rsc.cdn77.org/zipfiles/7.0.2023.1012/rexaccuseason_setup.msi

So … no ‘one button’ update procedure then and not even available from the Just Flight store where I originally bought it from? Incredible.

They definitely don’t make it easy. Seems a real ‘faff’. Why can’t we just have an ‘update button’ for crying out loud or even just a download and ‘one press’ reinstall of the new version over the old one?

Just my personal opinion, but really, their product update procedure is very much in need of an update itself.

Have you tried rexaxis.com? There is a download button that leads to a screen where you fill in your purchase web, serial number, etc. Uninstall previous version and install new one. That´s what I did.

Huh? If you bought original AccuSeasons, then you don’t need to re-purchase.

As @ricdpm stated: go to RexAxis.com. When there, click the ‘Download now’ button, choose JustFlight as the store, select REX AccuSeasons Advanced Edition as your product, use your original AccuSeasons serial key and store order number (both found in you JustFlight account), click the ‘Validate’ button. You’ll get a copy of the installer and you’ve effectively ‘told’ REX’s backend licensing that you are eligible for a free upgrade.

I did that already for the initial Advanced version so I can install the update and it went fine. Just I was expecting the download of the installer to also be available at JF, no?

No, it’s been a complete mess with the upgrade path for non-REX store purchases. No new installers made available at other stores.

Outright new purchases and upgrades to OG AccuSeason bought at REX seem to have had less hassle.

Off to uninstall (yet again) and download/ install the new version.
Wish me luck as I  to the software gods…

I had a look on JF store/my account/downloads and they only had the v6.1 (2023-03-31) release available as of this morning.
Incidentally I went through all this REX install just last night when I launched REX Accuseason and tried the upgrade path from within. Licence / activation errors spewed forth.
Seems like best approach and the one I used to install / activate REX Accuseason Advanced last night - albeit the Sept (not the Oct) version, was to uninstall all Rex accuseason everything (v6, v7 , including REX contents from community folder etc) from my system. Then do a complete download/reinstall and activation. No more licensing issues, yay… but now I wake up to a new version…arghhhh!

PRODUCT INFORMATION:
REX AccuSeason Advanced Edition - Technical Update 1.0 Released

DATE ISSUED:
Friday, October 20, 2023

PRODUCT:
REX AccuSeason Advanced Edition

BUILD:
7.0.2023.1012

I uninstalled all instances of REX and installed Build 7.0.2023.1012
Remember that the 2023.0918 build was working fine, except only in Automation Mode, and accepting that I can’t open QuickStart again.

Standard Registration using my serial key and order number failed.
Registration also failed using REX AXIS login (I bought it on the REX Store.)

(Product Key not valid.)

Imagine that…
I’m laughing because it’s becoming a tragi-comedy.

If it was registered to begin with there should have been no reason to register it again. All that is required is to uninstall currently installed version, install the new version and done. Its sounds to me like your registry is all screwed up. Maybe in the future you should uninstall just using “Add Remove Progarms” instead of your Revo program.

I bought AccuSeason advanced (from Justflight) yesterday. Do I have the latest version?

Also, why does AccuSeason not seem to cover the Alps. Just flown from LSZC to LJLJ, and there were no Autumn trees or ground textures (was fine outside the Alps earlier today, lots of nice orange)?

I’ve used Revo for many years, based on recommendations from software engineers whose opinions I don’t question, and never had any issues with reinstalling or registering anything.

Revo removes all registry entries associated with the program being uninstalled.
It’s the cleanest way to completely uninstall.

With all due respect, it makes no difference whatsoever that the registry was cleaned. The issue is that after installation, the app is not seeing my product info correctly in my REX Axis account.

I have a registry backup. I want the product to install and register as it should following a complete uninstall.

I second that your issue is probably not related to Revo. I have used Revo to uninstall AccuSeason many times (including this morning) without any issues.

I wish there was a quick answer to your issue and I hope you get it figured out soon.

Anyone have any thoughts on how necessary the “set UAC notifications to Never” in the instructions is?

That’s a big “NO” as far as I’m concerned. Sticking with the old version for now.

I have not set it to Never and it works just fine.

I have never had any problems leaving UAC on. The dialogue comes up just like with any other software and I click through it.

So I load up REX AS and it is at version 7.0.2023.0918 and in settings I uncheck ‘enable application automatic updates’ as non were forthcoming. I then hit ‘update manually’ and then get a “you have the latest version installed” message. Not a hint of 7.0.2023.1012 being available anywhere within the app.

So it sounds like the best was to avoid these update problems is to purchase directly from Rex and not Just Flight (or other stores)…?

I’m interested in AccuSeason but still undecided as I continue to read about installer / update issues.

I purchased from Simmarket originally and registered my purchased products on REX Axis. I have had zero issues other than REX not properly informing customers on the correct way to upgrade from Accuseason to Accuseason Advanced when Advanced was initially released.
