Rex releases Global Airport Textures

By all means. I would like to know how this affects KATL.

Did I miss something or are we still waiting for an update concerning SU5 HF2?

On the product page for RGAT:

August 8, 2021

Real Global Airport Textures version v.6.0.2021.0728 (Technical Update 1.1) is compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator v.1.18.15.0

Well, thank you. However, I had CTDs with it. I will check again.

Yes, it works.

Just bought it and tried it. Can’t say the taxi marks are better than tatami’s “yet another ground mark fix” (see flightsim.to) plus there’s definitely some microstuttering which I can’t yet fully attribute to the addon as I haven’t tested it thoroughly. However the most detailed review in simmarket also mentioned something about a 5fps loss and microstuttering during taxiing when using this addon. As soon as the aircraft is in the air any performance issues are gone.

Overall texture quality and skid marks look really good.

I’d rather have some addon logic behind worn/new ground marks and heavy/light runway skid marks. But this is not possible as it asks you to choose the combination of your choice during install. You can still change it later but IIUC it’ll always be one or the other regardless of the airport. I’d rather have more randomness.

I think the CTD issues after SU5 has now been resolved.

At 14-15 EUR it’s probably the best choice when it comes to upgrading airport textures globally.

Very first impressions copied from https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/rex-global-textures/428856/14

However users in the current discussion didn’t experience any performance issues so that’s good news. I’ll check again.

ps: the orbx price is now on par with the other sites, about 0.50 EUR more expensive but that’s about it. Bought it from JF nevertheless.

Did you ever get a resolution to this? I’m currently having the same issue.

Since I’m using MSFS Addon Linker, I solved all the problems of file encription etc. I put all my addons in a folder on C and let Addon Linker to manage them in the community folder on D. As Rex global textures, I’m still not convinced it’s working properly. I see the runway marks and the paints, but as tarmac, I never saw cracks, oil stains, different tarmac… Maybe it’s beacuse I mostly fly from small airports? Should I try big hubs to see those features? Bah… will try, but finding solutions for these details goes beyond my PC skills. So far I fly and enjoy what I have. That, in my opinion, is a lot.

Thanks for the reply. I’m kind of in the same boat. I reinstalled REX Global Textures making sure this time that I ran the install as admin. I am seeing the textures now, but not at every airport. For example, KPHX doesn’t seem to have the cracks and oil stains around the gates. I also don’t think the runway textures are correct. But other airports I am seeing them. So, maybe KPHX is using some texture set that REX doesn’t replace even though it’s a default airport.

I’m trying to send a report to Rex, let’s see what they say. I will share their reply here.

Bumping this thread to ask a question about how runway signs appear at night. Has anyone experienced this?

Even without shining any light on these signs, they appear as super reflective and relatively blurry which means you really need to be at a distance of 10-15m away to figure them out. In the above screenshot, S runway is more or less visible but D is impossible to see unless you zoom a lot.

During daylight things are much different:

(2560x1440, render scaling 100, TAA, objects LOD 150)

Everybody, read this article before buying this product.

From PC Invasion, lol no thanks.
