Description:
I encountered an issue where the Rolling Cache settings became unresponsive after I manually deleted the cache file on my drive. Specifically, I wanted to move the cache from my C: drive to my H: drive. After deleting the old file while the simulator was closed, I could no longer modify any cache settings in the menu.
The Problem:
-
The cache size is stuck at 0.0 GB.
-
When I try to set a new path, I get an error message saying the path is invalid.
-
The UI seems “locked” and won’t accept any new input for the cache.
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Close the simulator.
-
Manually delete the existing Rolling Cache folder/file from the hard drive.
-
Launch the simulator and go to Options > General Options > Data.
-
Try to enable the Rolling Cache or change its directory.
Actual Result:
The simulator fails to recognize new paths or sizes because the previously configured file is missing. The settings remain locked and any new path on the H: drive is rejected.
Workaround:
The issue was resolved after opting out of the Beta version and then returning to it. This process seemingly forced the simulator to refresh its configuration files, after which the new path entries were accepted and the Rolling Cache worked correctly again in the Beta version.
