Rtx 2080Ti 3090 compare

I m getting 45 fps and very smooth play on 4k monitor all settings ultra after trying lots of combinations(Nvdia CPL settings, clean install, limited by GPU,update patch 5. …)
And now the sim is so enjoyable
I want to ask if ı upgrade my GPU to Rtx 3090
Should ı see 60 fps with these settings.
Thank tou

My sistem

no you will not. There are several benchmarks of MSFS on the 3090 on Youtube. Look for them there.
Save yourself the 1500+ dollars.

if the sim is already very smooth for you, why worry about it?

I’m getting one in a week or so, I think, so I’ll see what I get. I don’t have a 2080ti now, but my system is otherwise like yours. My prediction based on what I am reading here and the benchmarks is that you will see some improvement, but if you don’t need the 3090 for another program/use, it might not be worth it just for MSFS since you have good performance now. However, I want one for MSFS and have spent so much on this goofy hobby that I’m looking forward to having it anyway  .

I would be waiting for AMDs new cards.
By all accounts just as fast as the 3090 and under a grand.

Makes sense. However, I’m in line to get the 3090, and I don’t know how long the AMD cards will be before delivery, so I’m committed now.

No, it’s not worth upgrading your 2080 Ti right now. Keep it for another generation I’d say!

With a 3090 your CPU will likely become the limiting factor. You may hit 60fps if your main thread frametime is under 16.6ms.

Supply of Nvidia cards is non existent, lol

I’m glad I gave you a laugh

Going to be a severe shortage of RTX 30’s anyway
Nvidia is interviewing their customers about the shortage.

I am currently a Asus Rog Strix 3090 owner and I can tell you , you will NOT see 60fps unless you’re up at FL300+

Ps, i am running on a 2560x1440 resolution. I’m sure with a 4K it’ll be lower frames.
Can I ask what tweaks did you make to a stutter free sim?

I’ve gone from a 2080ti FE to a 3090FE at 3440x1440 on a 9900k, 32Gb, SSD system. Can’t say I’ve noticed much difference. Getting a 4K monitor tomorrow, so maybe that will make it worthwhile. That being said I got £730 back for my 2080Ti on a well known auction site, so my upgrade wasn’t a fortune. The 3090FE looks awesome too.

What speed is your ram set to? I have a 3600mhz ram cards but when I go into task manager they’re running at 2133mhz. Changed the speed in my Bios to 3600mhz and started experiencing CTD. Changed it back to default and no CTD anymore. Ummm.
Buy the way, what monitor did you get? I’m looking for a 4K monitor as well.

3200mhz, think they are 2133 too, but XMP sets them to 3200mhz. Using a Gigabyte Z390 Master motherboard which has been rock solid. Honestly the only CTD that I’ve had from a very early stage was the one introduced with the minimap. Other than that no issues at all.

Went for the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG43UQ 43". Not a great deal of choice at that size at the moment, maybe should have waited for a HDMI 2.1 compatible version, but I’m impatient

My RAM setting is 3600 Mhz.And I see 3600 in task manager. But I think my motherboard supported it.It is Asus Z 390TUF gaming plus

I’m waiting for the optimization update before upgrading and for the Xbox version of MSFS.

Okay I think I’ll need to lower it to a 3200mhz. It’s pretty disappointing that I can’t utilize the whole 3600mhz

I have a Asus Rog Maximus XII Hero

Idk why my sim CTD 4x when changing it to XMP yesterday. My ram are 3600mhz and when I boost them up to 3600mhz , the sim just started crashing like crazy

I think CTDs with RAM clocks/speed is off topic here where the title is about GPU benchmarks.

As for the 3090, I wouldn’t expect too much since the sim currently simply cant benefit from better hardware in the same proportion as that hardware is actually capable of.
With the 3090 you’ll probably be safe for some time if you’re e using the PC for other games, but just for the sim I currently wouldn’t upgrade from a 2080Ti.
Wait a little for more optimization on the engine and see where it brings you. 45fps aren’t bad already anyhow.

Do you have the ram voltage at 1.6-1.65? Most 3600 ram is spec’d at 1.65 volts i think. Mine is set to 1.65 but the board is actually supplying like1.7. So make sure its getting a good supply around the 1.65, it’ll crash if it drops low.
