Rtx 4080 frames!

Hello ,
I have recently upgraded from an Rtx 3080ti to an Rtx4080 !
Same settings as before.
No difference in frames !!!
I was expecting at least a 20-30% increase.
Any idea why or what should i do to get those extra frames ?
I have an 19-11900k plus 32gb plus a Z590 and 4tb ssd !
My monitor is a Samsung Curved 34" 3440 x 1440p 100hz .
Any help will be highly appreciated !

If you want frame generation to work, you need to enable HAGS under windows settings and run MSFS in DX12. MSFS will not report doubled frames correctly, you will need an external performance monitoring program, like HWInfo, to show the doubled performance.

Also, your 3080 Ti was already quite capable at 1440p and your 4080 is likely not being maxed out, so if you haven’t already try higher graphics settings, like the ultra preset. Finally if you were using DLSS before, either switch to DLAA, which does DLSS without upscaling, or TAA and use some more of that 4080’s performance to translate to better visual quality.

If you’re CPU bound, you can throw GPUs at it all day, it will not increase FPS. Or maybe vsync enabled? FPS cap in nvidia settings? Without any information it’s pretty difficult to tell.

Can you post screenshots of your graphic settings?

Enable developer mode via the Options and open the FPS window via Debug → Show FPS

It will show the current load on the various components when in flight.

Thats not true. The 40x Series is exactly the opposite. It doubles your framerates no matter the cpu limitation.

Please be aware to not use the ingame dev mode fps telemetrie - it will NOT detect frame generation. With frame generation enabled your actual FPS Output is exactyl 100% higher then the Sim is showing. Use something like Afterburner or Fraps to show your ACTUAL FPS.

It generates fake AI-based frames, yes. So it looks faster, but the game itself actually isn’t. Doesn’t sound like an ideal solution.

Hello guys and thanks for your replies !
I tried enabling HAGS but No difference , i also tried different settings : DLSS , DLAA and TAA , still nothing !!

Any other idea will be more than welcome

You have dlss frame generation off. Try turning it on.

Yeah but that is exactly the point of this dlss 3 frame generation. These frames are not fake, but constructed with ai algorythm. You will most likely never notice any difference between full rendered and the inbetween generated frames. So you have a much more fluid experience. There are only artifacts when very sudden moves or camera changes occur, but these artifacts you can only see if you watch recorded footage and make still pictures. So this technique is perfect for the Flight Simulator, where you most times have very decent speeds and not much 180° camera movement changes in the rendered picture. And very important is to keep mind, that the Dev Mode FPS doesnt account for DLSS 3.

Your most important feature of your grafic card is OFF. You will most likely see not much diffence with these setting to an 3080/3090. Turn frame generation on and you will have over 100 fps on your monitor.

I think that’s kinda the definition of fake

Your main thread time of 13 ms is already very respectable.

  • Set “NVIDIA DLSS Frame generation” to ON
  • Up Terrain LOD slider to 400

HAGS on, DX12, frame generation on, read your resultant FPS externally. You should be seeing nearly 150 FPS with those scenario screenshots you posted.

Hags On , DX12 , frame generation On …
Still the same !

I will do some more testing tomorrow and will get back to you !

The same as in what? Same fps? Did you use an external fps counter as people keep suggesting?

Same frames !
I have downloaded Afterburner and hwinfo .
Will check and let you know .

I will give you a 100% guarantee - you are getting double the frames the inbuilt counter is telling you

Afterburner comes with Riva Tuner. Set that up and it will give you the correct fps reading

well, the difference is obvious.i hated it, turned it off.
Its ok when you have already very high frames, but it sucks big time when you need it the most, in low FPS situations. Also, the decrease in image quality gets more and more obvious the lower the frames are.

Its pretty bad overall, compared to native. and it has more downsides, like latency, no VSYNC, frametimes are all over the place.

I am using this DLSS 3 since 5 Month now I don´s see artifacts or decreased image quality. VSYNC is also very well possible via driver setting. I have limited my sysrtem to 60 fps, cause I have only a 60hz monitor and my sim is bringing the the need constant 30 FPS. And 30 FPS should be doable for most people how even consider getting a Geforce 40xx What do you consider low FPS situations?

And your posted Video is not representitve for MSFS. In a game like Spiderman or fast combat like in DCS or racing I wouldn´t use it neither.

Kind Regards

Enable frame generation, that’s all you need to do!

Well, i can see the difference very obviously. I prefer native. “Low FPS” in terms of Framegeneration is basically everything below 40, as this is the minimum FPS Nvidia recommends for Frame Generation. And that is really the Nvidia recommendation, you see the strange behavior even before that.
But i guess not everyone is able to see it, even if its very obvious.

And the Video is the same for any application, MSFS doenst magically exclude all the issus FrameGeneration brings.
