Hi all, I would like to hear, from those out there using a 4090 with a 60 monitor refresh rate in 4K, how is the experience in MSFS.
Can you play in ultra settings 4K and have a smooth performance? How many FPS can you get in high dense scenery?
Is it worth to lock the FPS to 60 FPS in the sim?
Thanks for feedback!

How are you
I have a 2080ti and it works super smooth TV 60Hz in Sim V-Sync activated and 50% (Locked at 30fps)
This is how it goes super fluid for me, I imagine that with a 4090 even more
(It is not about seeing many fps, I prefer stability and smoothness in my flights)

I upgraded to a state of the art pc. With a 4k 60hz monitor it was nice and smooth, hitting 60 fps all the time.
I decided to upgrade to a 144hz 4k monitor. With all settings maxed out I’m generally getting between 110 and 144 fps.
If you can afford it then get a better monitor.
I know you asked for responses from those with a 4K monitor, but I thought I’d give my response as I too have an RTX 4090.
My monitor is not 4K, but is a HD 3D-ready 144Mhz 24" monitor. With the RTX 2060 I had before I was getting fps of about 30-60 fps, depending on where I was and what I was doing.
With the 4090 I am getting fps of over 100, up to 144.
I do plan on getting a new monitor, 4K, one day, once my wallet has recovered from the shock of the 4090 purchase.

May I ask how do you lock the FPS? I know my monitor does no have this option. Do you use an external tool to do this or is this done entirely on the sim settings?
Hello, it is done from the sim
It is to see if your monitor is 60 Hz.
Example 60HZ in sim would be to activate V-Sync with the refresh rate at 50% (I don’t remember now if it’s called that)
You will see a slider bar with 100%, 50% and 33%

Seems similar to the setting I currently have, also a 2080 ti with a i9 10900k CPU mine. But I am not able to play ultra but a mixed of high and mid settings. I also play VR and here I notice a fps hit
Thanks! I need to give this a try!
All this with a 4090 right?
I can make a video of the settings I have as soon as I finish the flight I’m doing now.
I will also tell you some settings for windows so we can optimize better (Optional settings at your discretion)

I know is a massive investment!
Well that would be nice !
Happy flying
My language is Spanish
If you speak Spanish we can also meet on discord and I’ll share the screen to better explain the settings I have
Yes, plus an i9-13900, Z790 ROG Hero, DDR5, Gen 4 NVMe. Basically it’s a £5,000 system, with an extra £1,000 spent on the monitor afterwards.

Your system spec is exactly what I am planning to do! So you were hitting stable 60 FPS on a 60 Herz monitor with all ultra? I supposed this is a very smooth experience anyway right? Is there a noticeable difference when you go beyond 60 FPS in 4K with a monitor with higher refresh rate in Msfs?
Yes, both are smooth. 144 hz is more so. I think it may be more due to higher refresh rate monitors just being fundamentally better all round than 60 hz monitors - my new monitor cost £899, my old one was £390.
Like I said earlier, if you can afford it then get it. You won;’ regret it.
You don’t need higher refresh rates to get higher FPS. 60hz will serve you for years to come. I get 120 fps from DCS on my 60hz monitor no problem. Vsync locked at 30 is an excellent combination as Toni suggested.

Im on stock 12700k and 3080TI, 4k @ 120hz display
running native locked at 40fps fast sync in ncpl. Everything smooth and nice looking, though I dont really fly over the biggest cities like NY, London, Tokyo and such. Only using the PMDG B738.

Tools may say you are getting higher FPS, but a 60hz monitor will only display up to 60 fps.
