I think you will never get a better VFR map then this swiss knife of a map tool.

Though there might have been a discussion between Microsoft and Asobo where Asobo said they could do with some more time to fix a few things and add a few missing features and Microsoft said it’s good enough to be released now, I think Microsoft would have made the right call.
Nowadays people are more accepting of essential work continuing on a game post-release, automatic updates and the like are feasible and customers and expect the game to continue being worked on. Back before most people had broadband, you bought games on DVDs or CDs and unless there was some game-breaking bug that could’t be ignored, that was the final version. The developers would stop working on it.
I really, more and more come to the conclusion that beside the bugs that are obviously there most of the problems mentioned in this forum are hardware related. I have almost 40 hours without major issues. So was it rushed? I think it depends more on your hardware, Internet connection, heat issues etc. than the software to answer that question. Maybe the requirements were then too optimistic if one should have a complaint.
Maybe the planned release of the HP Reverb G2 VR Headset in september forced them to have the sim released in august?
AFAIK they even plan to make this headset the first to be supported exclusively with MSFS.
I’m happy they rushed it, now everyone can have access to the SDK, this will make it go faster
They should have labeled it Early Access …
But EA because some important features are still missing, I having less issues and bugs with MSFS that what I had with XP
I have a laptop here and will give it a shot tonight. Thanks!
Corporate bean counters vs enthusiast developers…always been this way
That’s a +1 on that from me too.
I’m sure that like many of us, one of the first things I did was head for my local area which, while it is recognisable just left me with a ‘that’s just not quite right’ feeling and that it would be so easy, given an accessible editor to make significant improvements. Particularly with the trees; was there a buy one get one free offer on trees? Far too many trees and many in inappropriate places; railway tracks for instance.
I’m sure I’m not alone in wishing I could tweak some of the scenery a bit. Sure, I’m probably never going to get into creating bespoke scenery objects but I could remove a few trees and replace a few inappropriate buildings and that would make a big difference to my local area.
There’s an opportunity to make use of the flight sim community here if only they’d take it.
Keeping it short and simple.
I prefer having (and paying for it) now to be able to at least partly enjoy using it, getting accustomed to it, etc. - instead of having to wait more months. Because of the early launch, the community is already alive and 3rd party devs are already releasing and working on freeware add-ons. An early Xmas present from MS/Asobo.
Now who is going to me a new PC (AMD Zen 3 / Nvidea 3090Ti / AMD Big Navi, please) as a present for Xmas - hubby come here, we need to talk)
Oh, not so short after all.
Well given the title “FS2020”, they were somewhat committed this release window. I suspect the sim will be used as a launch product for the new XBX (an MS tradition) which is also just around the corner.
You can’t compare enthusiast software products released in 2004 to 2020, that’s just disingenuous. People rightfully demand more as time marches on.
Whatever problems there are right now, I would stamp my armchair guarantee they can be traced back to MS interference in some way or another.
It is likely even MS cloud facilities that are failing to serve up accurate and timely streamed data during gameplay as well, resulting in an inconsistent experience with everything from weather to stuttering to scenery quality.
The installer was likely not designed by Asobo either. It was probably one of MS only jobs to do. You can clearly see the quality difference, we’re lucky you can even choose which drive to install upon, which you must do like three times.
I am confused. I have no clue why you say rushed, The last Microsoft flight simulator was in 2010 im sure that this game has been in the works for over 3 years.
Nothing disingenuous about that, and if you think so, you know nothing about game development.
Things are gotten more complex now than they were in 2004, and achieving the same level of polish is harder, not easier. And by harder, I mean a LOT harder.
Considering the level of polish and completion of EVERY commercial flight simulator on the market at launch, it’s a miracle that this came out with this level of polish and with so many usable features. Nothing else compares.
I guess technically it’s just called Flight Simulator… FS2020 is just what we’re all choosing to call it
its all about the Monies for the M$FT
If this was true, this game would not exist.
This is far from the kind of game with the biggest sales potential they could be putting resources into.
i’m happy with the release.
Well said. bugs will be fixed eventually
Microsoft forced them 100% sure.
