There never is an “ideal” state with sims. There’s always room for improvement, be it Msfs2020, Xplane, P3D or Af fs2.
People who complain about it being rushed never had to play FSX out of the box, it had issues that still are not fixed and people never got good performance on it as well.
I remember (vaguely) FSX out of the box. Of course, that was 14 years ago, so my memory is hazy. If I recall, the main problem with it was mostly performance and the fact that modern hardware (at the time) struggled to run it. It was, however, a mostly functional product. Most of the missions save a few worked as intended. The sim was as IFR capable as FS9. Most of the default aircraft, while having pretty simplified models, also worked without too many surprises.
FS2020 seems to be a bit of the opposite. Modern hardware can run it just fine, but there are way too many surprises with regard to flight modelling and functionality. On this, it feels quite rushed.
I just hope the devs keep firm support of this product until issues get ironed out. I have had way too many bad experiences with game developers stop supporting their products after rushing it out the window. This is why I often prefer to wait for a more complete product.
If only people wanting a sim could agree that one half should buy and the other half not. That would show the dev the interest in the sim and let bugs be found and give the dev the incentive to fix things
So you bought shares in Microsoft, right? Cos I remember FS9 at launch and it was fine.
I’m afraid I have to let you into a secret. Your memories aren’t nearly as good as you think they are.
I’d put money on you not even being out of diapers when that game was released.
The game installed and ran fine on my fairly boring computer of the time, and I didn’t experience any game breaking issues. That’s on a stock version, installed from CD, because that’s the only way in which you could get it.
I hope you didn’t put much money on it, considering that my first flight simulator was on the Spectrum 48k.
MSFS runs fine and doesn’t have any game breaking issues either, and if you think differently, game breaking simply doesn’t mean what you think it means.
Other people exist who are not you, and will have problems that you don’t personally experience.
The fact that you are an adult and you have failed to understand this is concerning.
These two don’t go very well together.
Neither did anybody else, from what I read. The game at least shipped with what was advertised, regardless.
As I said- you being incapable of understanding that other people exist is a concern. A lot of people have had issues with the release of this iteration of the series, and you obviously know this because you’re replying to them, so I just assume that you’re a fanboy or you literally have shares in this multi-billion dollar company that you’re simping for.
The Spectrum 48k was very nice, had a great time with that. No idea what was simulated in 48Kb though.
But look where we are today, just amazing how things change.
Translation of the above: “bwaaaaaaaaaaaah this evil person isn’t letting me bash the game without response!”
For someone calling into question someone’s maturity, it’s pretty comedic to see how salty you get because someone else has a positive outlook on the game.
There’s no need to be a fanboy or owning any share. All that’s needed is to have realistic expectations of a product with this kind of complexity, which I do, and you don’t.
It’s that simple.
It had its own flight simulator by Psion, which was basically the competitor of the first game of this series on the Commodore 64.
It was very rough.
I mean sure, if you like getting ripped off by obscenely rich men. We all have our kinks.
The promo materials not matching the end product isn’t something you should just ‘get used’ to - you are literally saying that you have spent so much of your life getting duped that now you’re used to it. Get some self respect fer goodness sake.
MSFS, for now, has provided me with about 70 hours of fun. That’s not my definition of being ripped of.
Being appreciative of a product that provides me with that kind of enjoyment also is not my definition of lack of self-respect.
On the other hand, my definition of lack of self-respect (and self-care) would be trolling the forum of a game I do not enjoy instead of dedicating my time to one that I do enjoy. I guess X-plane ain’t giving you all that much fun, lately.
Can’t remember anything about it tbh, I remember Saboteur and a few others (the almighty Rambo) but I enjoyed most of them. Rough… Haha, I can imagine.
Na, buying a product that has bits missing is still getting ripped off, even if you do enjoy what you have. Buying a new car with busted air con that won’t be fixed for months is still an issue even if you can still hoon it around a track.
I am angry because I paid for it, and because I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried to stick with it, I now can’t get a refund. With hindsight, I’d rather have spent the money on pizza, because this has been nothing but a headache so far.
You seem to be personally offended at the idea that someone might be annoyed with a product that you like. If the game hasn’t shipped with functional components, or the game itself just doesn’t work properly for some, people are going to be angry about that, and they have a right to be.
I don’t know how else to explain to you that other people matter.
Being more negative then positive on just a ‘game’ and waste precious time on that aint healthy. But we all have our kinks.
I don’t know if you can just afford to throw £70 away on a whim but some of us can’t.
