Saitek Flight Panels

I will be watching this topic and contacting logitech as suggested. I’m glad so many people are trying to sort this out. And I’m surprised saitek wasn’t supported at release… odd.

Going to try out DCS Panels. There is a good youtube guide available explaining how to program the switches: DCSFlightpanels – The Basics and Keyboard Emulation Mode

Don’t bother, they’ve already told two posters on this thread that they have no plans on helping with this. Contact Microsoft instead and say you’re waiting for them to fix SimConnect so you can use your peripherals

Hello @ll,

the 20/08 development update suggests that it will be a while until the SimConnect issue is fixed. The way I read it, they will tell us on the 27th what the date for releasing the next MSFS version will be.

So I have decided to remove the time limit from the demo version of AxisAndOhs for now (build 05).

Btw. the ZIP file with the installers has been encrypted with password LORBY to minimize the false positives by the various security programs. Nothing more to it.

okay. Ill get onto that tonight.

I did get them working with spad.next but with the FPS drop. So trying to find a better solution…

Next ill be on their case about multiple monitor support!

Thanks

hello and thank you
is your sofware can display info on the saitek multi panel, or is working only in one direction (panel to MSFS).

can we have altitude/HDG/etc… displaying on this hardware ?

Yes, sure. On Multi, Radio and FIP panels. In addition, if you have Saitek gear, AxisAndOhs can display the FIP gauges on your desktop and you can drag them to another monitor.

But the reading of data from MSFS is precisely what is causing the stutters in the sim (see SimConnect problems with MSFS). You have been warned.

Edit: for the Multi Panel to display anything, you will probably have to turn off Windows Enhanced Power Management for that panel. AxisAndOhs has a function for that in the Tools menu, but you have to run the app “As Administrator” (and restart your computer after making the change)

i used for trying this addon… its working, BUT i went from a steady 75 FPS down to 45~50 fps with hiccup each 5 seconds. i hope logitech will build plugins for their devices. p.s. the first try, both multi and switch panel worked, yesterday, my switch panel stoped working. this is disapointing for flight simulator experience! as i do not want to touch my keayboard and mouse during flight.

Contact Microsoft, and say you hope they will fix SimConnect soon so you can use your panels without performance problems.

Logitech has stated they have no plans to fix this.

The mfd’s should work with no problems.
The sim should recognize them but you will have to manually assign functions to each button.
There are plenty of posts detailing how to assign controls both here and on YouTube.
I know mine work just fine, check for them in the controls menu.

wow wish i was 20 younger think i’ll have to wait until my son comes home guess it was too much to have hoped the panels would work straight away :unamused:

Simconnect never felt like much of a priority during the Alpha/Beta process. I have several third-party utilities for X-plane that make flying so much easier since I don’t have hardware instruments like a radio panel or VOR. AeroNavMap provides a moving map on iPad, but also the ability to Tap on an airport or VOR and tune com or nav radioes.

Does your stuff work with the Backlit Panel as well? And what about Microsoft’s (!) Sidewinder Force Feedback?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Andy - Another angry simmer

We’ll have to make sure they make it a priority. As I understand it the framerate issue wasn’t there during Alpha, do you agree?

Hello,

sorry, but that would be a no.

When developing the app I was unable to acquire a BIP (= at all) or a FF joystick that seemed worth the asking price. I may look into both eventually. I could probably make the BIP work in some kind of generic setup, but I imagine that is not what people would want?

I just did a quick try using AxisAndOhs. It does not have a noticable impact on performance to me ( I get around 25-30 FPS using a 3900XT and older Titan X (Pascal). Same FPS as without. But I only use the flight panel switchwhich may have something to do with that? But I did experience multple crashes of flight simulator when using AxisAndOhs and unfortunately (just like DCS Panels, which also works, but slower reation times to switches and kind of buggy and a lot of work to set up correctly) some switches seem to be programmed as toggle switches instead of position switches, which is annoying as the aircraft loads with the engines on in FS2020 (unless this is some assistance setting I did not figure out yet). Also, I don’t think this will work on just any plane, some assignments might need manual adjustments. Will maybe give it a second try, but it does not seem to be a out of the box simple solution suited for me (plug and play is what I am looking for).

When you select a departure airport, you get a drop down menu at the top where you can choose a gate or parking area (not runway) to start at. You should then start cold and dark, as long as any bound switches aren’t turned on.

Thanks for sharing your experiences :+1:
