Screen tearing with DLSS frame generation enabled

Can someone give a list of settings to enable or disable. Im having horrible tearing with FG right now.

I have it all set like that but still getting tearing. I have monitor refresh rate at 60 frame rate capped at 60 in control panel. when i have frame gen off it is perfect. But as soon as I turn it on that’s when i get the tearing.

Make sure you are editing a custom profile for MSFS in NVCP, then try turning on Vsync to Fast in Nvidia Control Panel:

I think I have figured it out. I was using the PMDG 737 in 24. Which is not officially supported. I switched to an airbus. And all is well.

Cheers.

I’ve had problems with DLSS FG on with an RTX 4090, on a 4K screen. Also, being the said monitor a G-SYNC capable one, I also had problems with some sort of very rapid (and annoying) flickering when in fact using G-SYNC on (along with DLSS FG on).
Niow, don’t take me for a fool - while there is a very high probability that I in fact am - but today talking with the guys at the shop where they ā€˜created’ my gaming PC - they simply told me to un-cap all framerates and free my 32" 4K monitor reaching it’s 144 Hz refresh rate. I followed their suggestions, and in MSFS 2020 all set to ā€˜ultra’ I reached the amazing frame rate of 120+! Then it became clear to me: on one side I was capping the FR using Nvidia Control Panel, on the other side I was asking MSFS to get higher Framerates using DLSS Frame Generation (I was at some 40/45/50 or a bit more FPS without DLSS FG on, which was unconcievable having a 4090 after all). Clearly the system must have started going mad receiving opposite instructions, so I managed to uncap everything and deactivate all restraints. The only downside is that the 4090 requires a consumption of power of some 400 W while ā€˜before’ it used to stay at less than half that value. But somebody (the same ol’ guys at the shop) also told me that one cannot own a Ferrari complaining about how much gas it requires, after all! Anyway, I have decided to find a half-way solution: I am un-capping MSFS and going where it wants to go, while capping everything else. After all, playing Tomb Raider 1-2-3 Remastered at 144 FPS is basically useless if not even silly… On other simulators, though (like ETS2 or ATS for instance), I might wanna cap the framerate to 60 FPS because of said consumption. Going over 60 FPS is useless for my needs, while the electricity bill has the power of making me regretting my wishes, I guess…
Anyway, I very much hope I have been of some help, at list to naive gamers like I am.
Cheers and happy landings, whatever your FR is!

Hi everyone,

Recently I wanted to give DLSS Framegen a try, but found myself with some horrible screentear when panning my view. I have already skimmed through any posts related to this issue with all helpful tips, but could not fix it after multiple hours of trial and error. It is driving me nuts.

My rig: 13900KF, RTX4090, 48GB DDR5, 60Hz 4k Non-Gsync

Everything works fine with TAA + Vsync (ingame), I get around 45FPS on mostly Ultra settings. No screentear. But it still feels a bit choppy, that`s why I wanted to try DLSS FG.

As soon as I add FrameGen, screentear is unbearable @ 85FPS. Of course ingame Vsync is blocked in settings, so I have to go into NVCP. What I tried so far:

  1. NVCP Vsync Fast/On/Adaptive
  2. NVCP Vsync Fast & Frame cap 59FPS/60FPS
  3. NVCP Vsync On & Frame cap 59FPS/60FPS
  4. HAGS ON/OFF
  5. DLSS Swapper for DLSS Framegen updated to 310.2.1.0
  6. Nvidia Driver Clean Reinstall Current Version / Reverted back to Drivers from End January 2025
  7. Window Mode / Full Screen Mode
  8. Settings changed to low, Off-screen pre-caching low - Ultra, Fauna Off-Ultra, Resolution HD-4k

Absolutely no joy, anybody has still some ideas?

new Nvidia drivers are out, also the DLSS mod has been updated, there were issues with the last drivers and DLSS, but i think they ironed it out, so make sure everything is up to date

latest Nvidia driver is 572.83
Latest DLSS is 310.21, latrest framegen is 310.2.1
latest dlssg-to-fsr3-0.130

What is the make and model of your monitor? Some type of variable refresh (VRR) is really needed. You were ok without DLSS FG because you had vsync turned on which will try and lock your fps at 33%, 50%, or 100% of your monitors refresh rate so you will have a minimum amount of variability in your fps (that’s probably why it only felt a bit choppy).

In my case, my frame rate can vary from approximately 40 to 144fps with frame gen depending upon the level of detail associated with the plane, airport and scenery (I have my fps capped at 144 as that is the max fps it can handle). Given that wide range of fps, if I didn’t have some type of VRR (freesync in my case), I’d have terrible tearing also.

Something ā€˜changed’ in SU2 with the way MSFS renders the screen and, especially if you change FG settings during a flight, you might get a strange ā€˜juddering’ with head tracking/ head panning. Looking for a fix…

I noticed that too. When changing from FSR3 to Nvidia DLSS I now have to restart the sim or I have lots of stutters.

I found a fix for the SU2 broken head tracking for people using two or more monitors (with different refresh rates): For anyone struggling with 'stuttery flickering' using head tracking in SU2

I have the framerate in NVIDA CP capped, and vertical sync set to fast yet in MSFS I still get screen tearing with my 60 HZ monitor. I have found no way to fix other than disable frame Gen which is unfortunate as I get such a boost in performance.

Set maximum framerate to 30 in usercfg.opt file and do not cap frames in Nvidia CP.

Don’t do both I believe… do 1 or the other.

I’ve set it in sims settings (SU3 beta) there is a frame limit setting.
