Looking awesome! Can’t wait to try it!
This looks great, but are you able to remove the leaves from deciduous trees in the winter time, so they have only branches?
Will that be possible in MSFS 2020 in the future through some mod, or are the tree models under the control of Asobo. We need to see bare deciduous trees in the wintertime at some point ![]()
Love it. Great idea to create an app for those options.
Unfortunately not. This app changes the colors of the existing trees and does not contain new models. I would hope that when Asobo creates seasons within MSFS, that they will have trees with no leaves.
Personally, I think your brown trees in winter are a good compromise (for now). I only say this, because in photogrammetry areas, the trees are part of the photogrammetry and are completely green. It appears that MSFS just places a default tree over these photogrammetry trees to hide them in a way. If we were to have leafless trees in photogrammetry areas, the underlying green photogrammetry tree would dominate it visually.
Having said that, leafless trees would be great in non-photogrammetry areas. But, I don’t know if it is possible to classify tree types in photogrammetry areas vs. non-photogrammetry areas.
It would still have the issue of green trees on the ground textures being visible even in non photogrammetry areas and they stick out like sore thumbs.
Very true. On that note, I’m fine with the brown leafs.
I have heard from a friend that there is a new mod with 4 seasons and an app to easily change the season on FS (you can only have one season at the same time). Does anyone know, where to find it ? Thank you
Awesome work guys!
Thank you. It is still a work in progress but it is definitely moving along.
It’s on SimMarket last I checked. I forget the name but it’s not too far down on the MSFS storefront.
What would make this spectacular is to have the seasons dynamic.
For example, if I were to take-off in Miami in January, it more or less looks like summer year round, when I get to Georgia and the Carolinas, the grass is brown, and non-evergreen trees are bare - by the time I get up north, there is snow. One of my favorite things from the FS2000-FSX days were seeing the seasons change dynamically and flying between regions with different vegetation. I used to fly from Minneapolis to Miami on FSX - was great seeing the transition from snow to yellow/brown to green. It would be great to have the different regions with different vegetation.
Whatever dynamic seasonal texture mapping MS had for FSX is good enough for a first start. Certainly much better than the default perpetual summer.
“Whatever dynamic seasonal texture mapping MS had for FSX is good enough for a first start. Certainly much better than the default perpetual summer.”
But haven’t we been told that programming for MSFS2020 is totally different from FSX? Asobo had nothing to do with earlier editions of FS so I’d guess it’s somewhat more than just a rework of old coding - and likely to cause even more problems unless done “from the ground up”.
Agree it would be nice though. Perhaps a TPD can do something, such as in the “Fall” addon?
MORE! Haha, it looks amazing…can’t wait until it’s ready!
The project LostBoii1103 refers to is a completely different project to this one of course. ![]()
Could someone help how to change definitions to fix
definitions where erroneously most of Finland and Sweden are Ecoregion: Scandinavian and Russian taiga
Biome: Boreal Forests/Taiga
Realm: Palearctic
Eco ID: 717
I would like to set much larger proportion of deciduous trees in this are as a fix, as in reality there are ca 40%.
How?
Looks great and might I suggest packaging this with a few weather themes like in REX Accuseason Advanced. I’m looking forward to trying it.
Quite an old thread but I think it may be referring to Bijan Habasi’s mod which transformed vegetation, trees etc into 4, then subsequently eight seasonal variations. It doesn’t appear to be supported any longer but is still available on the simMarket website. It’s payware and despite its age still performs very well, surviving over half of the Sim Updates. I’ve always got it running
Bijan’s trees still work fine and look great in 2023.
Especially in tropical regions.
Strongly concur with these last two posts. I always have Bijan’s seasons loaded when I fly. A great pity he is no longer working on this, doubly sad as it sounds as if this might have been as a result of bad family (medical?) events. Wherever he is and whatever his current circumstances: my respects, gratitude and very best hopes and wishes for him.
