In 2024 the ground vehicle visibility has been tied to randomly generated planes at airports. The only way to remove these randomly generated planes at stands at airports is to set the Traffic Airport Quality setting in graphics to “Off”. This also removes the random fire trucks and other traffic.
For VATSIM on 2024 I and others will need no plane traffic at stands or around the airport but I would still like the ground vehicles to show and move around the airport for realism.
Surprised this hasn’t gained more traction. I’m using BATC ai traffic, so I have to turn off Airport traffic to remove static ai models. In turn, this also turns off airport ground vehicles moving around.
Please provide a separate slider for this. I believe it was present during the tech alpha.
I also don’t understand why not more users vote for this wish. Vatsim, BATC, FSLTL - therw are so many reasons to separate ground vehicles from aircraft.
I made a similar thread here, but goes into more detail for resource balancing. I didn’t think about impact for things like Vatsim since I don’t use it.
I’m also surprised neither of these topics have received much love.
I just voted on it. The promotion of wish list items needs to be improved. I’ll be honest, unless I see them on the main forum page, I don’t know they exist.
It’s the same for me - I miss many good ideas here. Usually I find them when googleing for something I asume would already be there/possible or was there in 2020
Voted on this one too. Unfortunately it means that any 3rd party AI cannot use ground services without some default AI or statics taking up the parking spaces.
I recently reinstalled Msfs2020 and had forgot all the separate sliders and options for traffic which allowed to still have ground vehicles and workers etc still moving around airport which helps with immersion imo.
I have been starting to use fsltl and gsx which needs static and default aircraft off and because it’s tied all to one slider “airport traffic quality” it takes all the random ground vehicles, workers with it unlike Msfs2020. Why would they go backwards and take all those adjustments away.
And to add, the sliders are also tied to the visibility radius of such vehicles, so low means you only see what’s immediately around you, going up through medium and high adds more and increases the visibility thus aircraft and vehicles popping into view. Madness…
Oh that’s right Knight!!! I noticed that happening and didn’t realize that this same setting we are talking about is what was causing it!
Another reason we need those settings back. Literally the same sliders 2020 had would solve a lot of issues.
I am assuming most flight simmers use addons/mods etc. so the settings can also solve some performance issues and as we said pick and choose which traffic is visible sure was great.
Just found this thread. I added my vote. We definitely need static aircraft and ground vehicles separated.
I think this should be brought up at the next Developer Q&A session.
The problem is that unless it’s a pre-submitted question that is selected for discussion it will get lost in the chat fog.
Where is this developer question submission form, good sir? I know we’ll probably miss it this time round but would be good to get one in for next time. Either that or we’ll have to start a chat conga.
For anyone reading this thread, if you like to control the amount of vehicles and static aircraft vs a scene from The Langoliers - PLEASE VOTE, we need you.
The “scene from The Langoliers” comment gave me a chuckle.
I’m not sure where one finds a question submission form, or even if one exists.
I’m going to search around a bit. If you find it, let us know. I will do the same.
“Fear not, once we have the next dev livestream properly scheduled and organised, @Jummivana will most likely create a post with a link to submit questions!”
